Abstract Data reflecting aerobic performance and personality functioning were obtained from 103 women before and after they participated in a 15 week aerobic training program. Regression and covariance analyses revealed that better personality functioning was reliably associated with higher initial levels of aerobic fitness, participation in the ...

Responses of Maximal Aerobic Power and Capacity to Aerobic Training
International Journal of Sports Medicine, 1984The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the individual differences and the specificity in the response of maximal aerobic power (MAP) and capacity (MAC) to a 20-week aerobic training program. Twenty-four subjects (25 +/- 4 years), ascertained as sedentary, including 13 women and 11 men, participated in this study.

Vocal problems among aerobic instructors and aerobic participants
Journal of Communication Disorders, 1993A questionnaire to determine the characteristics of vocal problems was distributed to 75 female aerobic instructors and 75 female aerobic participants ranging in age from 20 to 40 years. Of the questionnaires returned, 50 from each group, with completed replies to all questions, were selected for inclusion in the study.

Orthopaedic Nursing, 1994
Aerobic dance has taken the spotlight as one of the most popular forms of exercise in America. The benefits of a well developed, comprehensive program include an increase in strength, flexibility, and endurance while promoting a healthy cardiovascular system. Orthopaedic nurse clinicians frequently come in contact with aerobic dance participants before

The Physician and Sportsmedicine, 1985
In brief: During an 18-month period 61 patients who had problems associated with aerobic dance were evaluated. Fifty-four had overuse injuries, including all but two of the 24 patients who were instructors. The authors used three-phase radionuclide scintigraphy to evaluate some of the injuries and prescribed balanced orthoses for the management of pain

Abstract Obesity is due to an imbalance between caloric intake and expenditure. One component of expenditure that has been receiving increasing research attention is exercise. This paper reviews the research on activity level differences in thin and obese persons, and basic research on energy balance, or intake/expenditure relationships.

Aerobic Inhibition of Glycolysis
Nature, 1958DURING investigations on the synthesis of sucrose from glucose-1-phosphate and fructose by pea seed extracts it was observed that a glycolytic system was operating in the enzymic digests1,2. The pea extract had been partially purified by precipitation with ammonium sulphate (80 per cent saturation) and dialysis against phosphate buffer at pH. 7.0.

Aerobic Performance Assessment
2018Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is made available by both aerobic and anaerobic means with proportional involvement dependent upon how rapidly it is required. While all world-class athletes are incredible performance machines, the Olympic decathlete is the most remarkable when physiological traits responsible for athletic success are considered. Given its

Study on the aerobic granulation and properties of aerobic granules
2011 International Symposium on Water Resource and Environmental Protection, 2011The granulation process of aerobic granular sludge was studied in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) with experiment method, using the floccules activated sludge as seeding sludge. Meanwhile, the properties of the aerobic granules and the removal of COD with the growth of the granules were also investigated. Through 140 days continuous operation, aerobic

The effect on fetal and maternal outcome in gestational exercise in a recreational athlete was investigated in a 2 1/2-year prospective study. A training effect in a pregnant subject engaged in aerobic exercise was also determined. One hundred forty-one low-risk pregnant subjects had their aerobic capacity tested during the first trimester, during the ...
