Aerobic Capacity of Polish Soldiers
Military Medicine, 1989Performances on 1.5-mile and 12-minute runs were used to compare aerobic fitness in groups of Polish, Austrian, and U.S. male military members. The Polish soldiers achieved better times than either the Americans or the Austrians, and both Polish and Austrians logged better times than the Americans, a possible indication of better fitness.

Aerobic Capacity in Children with Hemophilia
The Journal of Pediatrics, 2008To determine whether aerobic capacity is normal in boys with different types of hemophilia compared with healthy peers and whether the level of aerobic capacity correlates with the amount of physical activity, joint health status, muscle strength, and anthropometrics.47 patients (mean [SD] age, 12.9 [3.2] years; age range, 8.2-17.4 years) from the "Van

Aerobic Capacity after Contracting Infectious Mononucleosis
Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 1986Infectious mononucleosis can be disabling to athletes of all ages. Traditionally, long periods of limited physical activity are prescribed. During this time period a significant level of detraining can occur. Sixteen cadets from USMA who were identified as having mononucleosis had their aerobic capacity determined immediately after becoming afebrile ...

Aerobic Capacity in Black Adolescent Girls
Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1993Our purpose was to determine the aerobic capacities (VO2max) of a group of black female adolescents (age = 11.4-15.8 years) randomly chosen from a single urban school. Of 91 girls selected, 64 performed an incremental treadmill running test to volitional exhaustion and achieved VO2max as determined from expired gas measures.

Interstrain variation in murine aerobic capacity
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2001The contribution of genetic factors to aerobic capacity is unknown. The purpose of this study was to measure maximal aerobic performance among inbred strains of mice to provide basic heritability estimates.Eight female mice, 8 to 10 wk old, in 10 inbred strains (A/J, AKR/J, Balb/cJ, C(3)H/HeJ, C57Bl/6J, C57L/J, C(3)Heb/FeJ, CBA/J, DBA/2J, and SWR/J ...

Aerobic capacity of severely disabled Indians
Ergonomics, 1984To study the oxygen uptake capacity, the arm crank ergometer test was administered at three different loads, 25,37·5 and 50 W, on seven severely disabled subjects, and their cardiorespiratory responses were compared to that of nine normal subjects (work loads, 25, 50 and 75 W). Values of [Vdot]O2 of the disabled subjects corresponding to heart rates of

Aerobic performance capacity in paraplegic subjects
European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1986To determine adaptation to prolonged exercise in paraplegics, maximal O2 uptake (VO2max) and lactate threshold (LT) were evaluated during an arm cranking exercise in nine patients (P) and nine able-bodied (AB) subjects. Mean VO2max averaged 25.1 and 31.6 ml X min-1 X kg-1 in P and AB groups respectively.

Aerobic Capacity in Rate Modulated Pacing
Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1992Whether heart rate or AV synchrony is the most important factor for an increase in aerobic capacity was evaluated in a comparative study between sinus bradycardia, VVIR, DDD, and DDDR stimulation. Sixteen patients (mean age 67 years) with chronotropic incompetence and impJanted DDDR pacemaker (Telectronics META 1250) were randomly studied by ...

Responses of Maximal Aerobic Power and Capacity to Aerobic Training
International Journal of Sports Medicine, 1984The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the individual differences and the specificity in the response of maximal aerobic power (MAP) and capacity (MAC) to a 20-week aerobic training program. Twenty-four subjects (25 +/- 4 years), ascertained as sedentary, including 13 women and 11 men, participated in this study.

Anaerobic and Aerobic Capacities of Children
Pediatric Exercise Science, 1989This paper deals with the measurement of aerobic and anaerobic power in children, and how these capacities are affected by growth and training. The type of tests available, the selection of ergometer, establishment of criteria for determining whether a maximal value has been attained, and the limitations of the various expressions of maximal values are
