Effects of Aerobic Exercise Intensity on Serum Leptin Levels in Obese/Overweight Women

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2012
Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aerobic exercise intensity on serum leptin levels in obese/overweight women. Methods: A total number of 45 obese/overweight women (body mass index ≥ 25-30 kg/m2) were selected from ...

Unveiling Structural Heterogeneity and Evolutionary Adaptations of Heteromultimeric Bacterioferritin Nanocages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the structural heterogeneity and evolutionary adaptations of heteromultimeric bacterioferritins. Hetero‐Bfrs, evolved from either a homo‐Bfr or Ftn by gene duplications, differ from homo‐Bfrs substantially in the mechanisms underpinning iron oxidation and reduction despite high similarity in overall structure.

Muscle‐Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles Mediate Exercise‐Induced Cognitive Protection in Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
sEVs have a critical role in orchestrating interorgan crosstalk and mediating exercise‐induced therapeutic effects. Lin et al. demonstrates that sEVs miR‐17/20a‐5p mediates the muscle‐brain crosstalk and emphasizes the central role of mTOR signaling in executing molecular programs that can protect brain health in response to exercise. Abstract Physical

Selective advantage of aerobic glycolysis over oxidative phosphorylation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The utilization of glycolysis in aerobic conditions have been a subject of debate for more than a century. A hypothesis supported by previous data is that glycolysis has a higher rate of ATP production per protein mass and per occupied volume than oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos).

The Novel Dual GIP and GLP‐1 Receptor Agonist Tirzepatide Attenuates Colon Cancer Development by Regulating Glucose Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tirzepatide, a dual GIP/GLP‐1 receptor agonist for diabetes, suppresses colorectal cancer growth by targeting glucose metabolism. It inhibits cancer cell proliferation, promotes apoptosis, and induces tumor regression. It reduces glucose uptake and destabilizes HIF‐1α for degradation to downregulate PFKFB3/PFK‐1 enzymes, thus contributing to the ...
