Abstract BACKGROUND Landfill gas (LFG) and leachate are commonly treated separately through energy‐intensive processes. This study evaluated the integration of both streams in an anaerobic biotrickling filter (BTF) to achieve simultaneous methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) removal coupled with ammonium (NH4+) transformation, and how the microbial ...

Greater V˙O2peak is correlated with greater skeletal muscle deoxygenation amplitude and hemoglobin concentration within individual muscles during ramp-incremental cycle exercise. [PDF]
It is axiomatic that greater aerobic fitness (V˙O2peak) derives from enhanced perfusive and diffusive O2 conductances across active muscles. However, it remains unknown how these conductances might be reflected by regional differences in fractional O2 ...

Abstract Background We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis to examine the effects of mindfulness‐based interventions (MBIs) on emotion regulation (ER) and emotion dysregulation (ED) in people with any mental health condition. Methods Following a pre‐registered protocol (PROSPERO CRD42024618605), we searched multiple databases (Web of ...

Statins and Exercise Training Response in Heart Failure Patients: Insights From HF-ACTION. [PDF]
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess for a treatment interaction between statin use and exercise training (ET) response. BACKGROUND: Recent data suggest that statins may attenuate ET response, but limited data exist in patients with heart ...

ABSTRACT The ability of organisms to effectively respond to challenges is critical for survival. We investigated how an acute stressor affected corticosterone, mitochondrial function, and DNA oxidative damage in a wild population of Leach's storm‐petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous).

Using wearable devices to analyze the everyday gait differences between runners and nonrunners
Through the analysis of wearable devices and machine learning, it is found for the first time that the gait of marathon runners is significantly different from that of ordinary people. This shows that long‐term long‐distance running training can optimize the walking mode or help reduce the risk of falling.

Abstract Background The oral cavity significantly influences systemic health. Gingivitis, an early reversible stage of periodontal disease, may trigger systemic immune changes by facilitating bacterial translocation. This study examined the immune responses elicited by experimental gingivitis and their systemic immune impact, specifically in relation ...
