Aerobiologija je interdisciplinarna znanost koja proučava pasivni transport organizama i čestica biološkog podrijetla u atmosferi. Pelud u zraku najsnažniji je prirodni aeroalergen i najčešći uzročnik alergijskih bolesti dišnog sustava. Prva istraživanja distribucije alergenog peluda u zraku na našim prostorima datiraju iz 1959.
