Aerodynamic characteristics of trills
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998What are the aerodynamic conditions required for trills? To find out we had two subjects produce steady-state voiced, voiceless, and ejective alveolar trills. The backpressure during trills was intermittently bled with a tube of varying diameter (and thus impedance) inserted in the speaker’s mouth via the buccal sulcus and gap behind the back molars ...

The Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Microbus
Advanced Materials Research, 2011This work is focused on the reduction of the aerodynamic resistance of a microbus. The approach is the three dimensional (3-D) numerical simulation. The RNG k–ε turbulence models are adopted in the computation. Based on the model of SC6350 Chang’an microbus and the improved rear shape, the aerodynamic characteristics of both models at different speeds ...

Acoustic and Aerodynamic Characteristics of Choral Singers
Journal of Voice, 2019The study aimed to investigate and compare the acoustic and aerodynamic characteristics of choral singers and nonsingers.Twenty choral singers and 20 nonsingers in the age range of 20-30 years with no vocal pathology participated in the study. For acoustic analysis, the voice sample was recorded and analyzed using Praat software (Phonetic Sciences ...

Aerodynamic characteristic of a canard guided rocket
International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing, 2017The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation was used to investigate the aerodynamic characteristic of a canard guided rocket based on the technology of high quality point-to-point multi-block structured grid. The results of numerical simulation and experiments showed that the method is highly credible, and the method could be used to ...

Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Wings and Body of a Dragonfly
Journal of Experimental Biology, 1996ABSTRACT The aerodynamic characteristics of the wings and body of a dragonfly and of artificial wing models were studied by conducting two types of wind-tunnel tests and a number of free-flight tests of gliders made using dragonfly wings. The results were consistent between these different tests.

Aerodynamic Characteristics of Tracheostomy Speaking Valves
Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, 1993Pressure-flow characteristics were determined for four different one-way valves used for speech production in the patient who has had a tracheotomy. Each valve was tested at steady-state flow rates of 150, 250, 350, and 450 ml/sec in isolation and attached to a tracheostomy tube. Results indicated significant differences in resistance among the valves.

Aerodynamic characteristics of biplanes with winglets
Journal of Aircraft, 1987This paper examines, both theoretically and experimentally, the possibility of improving the aerodynamic characteristics of a biplane configuration by adding winglets. Theoretical calculations show good agreement with experiment in predicting inviscid drag due to lift.

Aerodynamic Characteristics of Rectangular Cylinders
International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics, 1999Three and two-dimensional simulations of unsteady flows around a rectangular cylinder sectioned object are carried out by means of the IBTD + FS Finite Element technique without the use of a turbulence model. The three-dimensional simulations confirmed that the aerodynamic characteristics of a rectangular object with a side ratio of breadth/ depth (B/D)

Aerodynamic characteristics of trills and phonological patterning
Journal of Phonetics, 2002Abstract The present study attempts to characterize the aerodynamic conditions required for the production of apical trills and to account for some universal tendencies in the patterning of trills in terms of their aerodynamic and distinctiveness requirements.

Determination of Elastic Wing Aerodynamic Characteristics
Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1952The basic aeroelastic integral equation is formulated by treating the wing as a tapered cantilever beam mounted normal to its straight elastic axis. By means of an iterative process, a series solution is obtained for the aeroelastic change in angle-of-attack distribution. For sweptback wings, this Neumann solution fails to converge at dynamic pressures
