Numerical Investigation of Labyrinth Seal Aeroelastic Stability

Volume 6: Structures and Dynamics, Parts A and B, 2009
Labyrinth seals, used to prevent flow leakage between rotating and stationary components in aero engines, may be prone to aeroelastic instabilities. Current work investigates the aeroelastic stability of flexible seals using a coupled fluid-structure code.

Non-Linear Aeroelastic Stability of Wind Turbines

Key Engineering Materials, 2013
As wind turbines increase in magnitude without a proportional increase in stiffness, the risk of dynamic instability is believed to increase. Wind turbines are time dependent systems due to the coupling between degrees of freedom defined in the fixed and moving frames of reference, which may trigger off internal resonances.

Stability of Aeroelastic Airfoils with Camber Flexibility

Journal of Aircraft, 2014
M AXIMUM lift characteristics and vibratory loading of the rotor are limiting factors in rotorcraft performance [1]. To expand the range of helicopter capabilities, active control methods to improve performance and reduce vibratory loading are being developed. For example, Grohmann et al.

Aeroelastic Stability of Unstiffened Suspension Bridges

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1971
It is the purpose of this paper to present a theoretical analysis for unstiffened suspension bridges to determine the conditions under which an unstiffened bridge would be adequate. The analysis turns out to be far simpler than that of girder-stiffened bridges previously considered by the writer and yields a sharply defined, easily applied criterion ...

Computer Aided Stabilator Design Including Aeroelastic Constraints

Journal of Aircraft, 1971
A computerized direct optimization procedure has been developed to aid in the design of an aircraft all-moveable stabilator. The procedure systematically evaluates a set of design variables so that the near optimum stabilator is synthesized from input nondimensional geometry and material characteristics to satisfy design constraints of performance ...

Aeroelastic Stability of Suspension Bridges during Erection

Structural Engineering International, 1998
The aeroelastic stability of suspension bridge decks at early stages of erection is discussed. Recent wind tunnel tests of the Hoga Kusten Bridge and the Storebaelt East Bridge indicate that the bridges were apparently more stable when the suspended deck was extended in an asymmetric manner, as opposed to the usual symmetric erection schedule.

Aeroelastic stability analysis of composite rotor blade

2013 5th International Conference on Modeling, Simulation and Applied Optimization (ICMSAO), 2013
This work presents a coupled motion of a helicopter rotor blade and stability analysis response in the hovering flight condition reinforced by GFRP fiber. The search for increasingly high performances in the field of the helicopters brings to the development of materials having higher rigidities and specific resistances.
