Supersonic flutter of aeroelastically tailored oblique wings

Journal of Aircraft, 1987
Renewed interest in oblique wing aircraft has created curiosity about the possible use of aeroelastic tailoring to enhance its aeroelastic stability. This paper examines the flutter characteristics of an idealized, advanced composite, oblique wing configuration operating at supersonic speeds.

Morphing wing design via aeroelastic tailoring

48th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2007
An approach to design an aircraft wing with morphing capabilities employing aeroelastic tailoring is presented. Morphing capabilities are achieved by passive actuation, that is the aircraft wing will adapt itself to improve its performance during the designed flight conditions.

Application of aeroelastic tailoring for control surface reversal

This research investigates the application of aeroelastic tailoring to enhance the post-control surface reversal regime on a mid-range aircraft. Conventionally, active Maneuver Load Alleviation (MLA) is achieved through control surface actuation, while passive MLA utilizes structural modifications at the material or layout level to exploit wing wash ...

Aeroelastic tailoring of flexible composite aircraft

2019
This paper presents a unified framework for aeroelastic tailoring of fully-flexible free-flying composite aircraft. A continuous-time state-space model is used to describe the flow. The 3D composite wing structure is condensed into a Timoshenko beam model utiliz-ing a cross-sectional modeler.
