Preparation of Silica Aerogel/Resin Composites and Their Application in Dental Restorative Materials

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
As the most advanced aerogel material, silica aerogel has had transformative industrial impacts. However, the use of silica aerogel is currently limited to the field of thermal insulation materials, so it is urgent to expand its application into other ...

Gas adsorption/desorption in silica aerogels: a theoretical study of scattering properties

open access: yes, 2005
We present a numerical study of the structural correlations associated to gas adsorption/desorption in silica aerogels in order to provide a theoretical interpretation of scattering experiments. Following our earlier work, we use a coarse-grained lattice-

Disordered Carbon Shells Enable Shape Dependent Fluorescence Enhancement in Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors Revealed by Correlative TEM–Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molten KNO2 treatment induces a lowrefractive index disordered carbon shell on fluorescent nanodiamonds, enhancing fluorescence emission while preserving spin coherence. Machine learningassisted correlative TEMPL enables direct single‐particle resolution of this enhancement relative to air‐oxidized nanodiamonds of similar morphology, establishing a ...

MWCNT/Silica aerogel: Preparation, characterization and applications in heterogeneous catalysis and decolorization of aqueous dye solutions [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2018
2.3 x 10-3 wt% multi-walled carbon nanotube incorporated silica aerogel (MWCNT/Silica aerogel) was synthesized by ambient pressure drying. The as-synthesized MWCNT reinforced silica aerogel was characterized by XRD, SEM, N2-adsorption– desorption, etc.

Free-standing flexible graphene-based aerogel film with high energy density as an electrode for supercapacitors

open access: yesNano Materials Science, 2021
Two-dimensional graphene film exhibits sluggish ion diffusivity while three-dimensional (3D) graphene aerogel has low packing density and poor mechanical flexibility.

Spin diffusion in liquid 3He confined in nafen

open access: yes, 2015
We report results of spin diffusion measurements in normal phase of liquid 3He confined in nafen. Nafen is a new type of aerogel and it consists of Al2O3 strands which are nearly parallel to one another at macroscopic distances. We examine two samples of

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Nano-Porous Silica-Aerogel-Incorporated Composite Materials for Thermal-Energy-Efficient Pitched Roof in the Tropical Region

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Silica aerogel possesses an ultra-low thermal conductivity by virtue of its nano-structure. Owing to the fragility of monolithic aerogel, the development and production of aerogel-based insulation materials involve the incorporation of granular aerogel ...

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.
