Aeromagnetic Gradiometry In 1995
Exploration Geophysics, 1996This paper discusses aeromagnetic gradiometry techniques for fixed-wing survey aircraft and presents results. Some design criteria for airborne gradiometers are briefly noted and specifications for gradiometer surveys are discussed. The following horizontal gradiometry applications are outlined and are illustrated with examples: - Levelling of total ...

Aeromagnetic Gradiometers-a Perspective
Exploration Geophysics, 1995Measurements of horizontal or vertical gradients of the magnetic field intensity can add a new dimension to high resolution aeromagnetic surveys of shallow basement areas. Although a number of vertical, horizontal and triaxial aeromagnetic gradiometers are in operation throughout the world, very little has been documented on the relative merits of ...

Abstract Many economically important mineral and petroleum discoveries can be directly or indirectly credited to the aeromagnetometer. Magnetic methods are most important for geological reconnaissance and mapping. Also, deep crustal and upper-mantle studies can be made from results. Spin-precession magnetometers, developed in the past

Optical Filtering of Aeromagnetic Maps
Applied Optics, 1974An optical processor has been used to filter aeromagnetic contour maps in order to obtain information on underground magnetic ore deposits. This was accomplished by directional filtering of the spatial Fourier transform of the contour map. The directional filtering yields maps of gradients having given directions.

Aeromagnetic Gradiometry And Compensation
5th SAGA Biennial Conference and Exhibition, 1997Although the concepts of aeromagnetic gradiometry are not new, it is only in the past several years, with a handful of gradient-equipped aircraft becoming operational, that the benefits are being realized. The main applications to date are the following: • In a total field survey, a lateral gradiometer provides additional information about the field ...

Aeromagnetics with an Unmanned Airship
Proceedings, 2013Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have a growing field of applications. Geomagnetic measurements in difficult terrain are one example where UAVs can be a useful tool. So far only a few case studies about ultra-light UAVs have been published. Most of them are based on the principle of rotary wings, e.g. helicopters or multicopters. The payload capacity of

Skeletonization of aeromagnetic data
Geophysics, 2004Abstract Skeletonization is a syntactic pattern-recognition method that is applied to gridded data to produce an automatic line drawing, with an associated event catalog. Previous implementations of skeletonization have been tailored for seismic data. Here, we modify that technique to render it more suitable for other types of gridded

Aeromagnetics in Exploration: ABSTRACT
AAPG Bulletin, 1983Uses for aeromagnetic surveys include the evaluation of prospect leads and prospects that are controlled by basement fault movements. The identification of basement faults is based on the interpretation of the significance of magnetic edges. Magnetic edges are of two general types: (1) contacts between rock types within the basement, and (2) faults on ...
