DETAILED AIRBORNE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY OF COMPLEXLY DISLOCATED STRATA IN THE SUTAM TERRANE (ALDAN SHIELD) DURING STUDIES OF IRON-ORE DEPOSITS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2020
Magnetic exploration is the most informational and economical method of prospecting and exploration of iron-ore deposits. In rough-terrain and remote areas without any infrastructure, problems associated with ground-based methods can be avoided by using ...

The Parguera Fault System: Possible Quaternary Reactivation of Bedrock Faults in Southwest Puerto Rico

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract We present evidence of a previously unrecognized east‐west‐trending normal fault, named the Parguera Fault, in southwest Puerto Rico. The fault is located at the northwestern edge of seismicity from the southwest Puerto Rico seismic sequence that began in 2019, near the coastal town of La Parguera.

AREAL AND DEPTH ESTIMATION OF SUBSURFACE ANOMALOUS STRUCTURES OF OYANDEGA AND ENVIRONS, PART OF THE ANAMBRA BASIN USING 2D MODELLING OF MAGNETIC DATA [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Behavior
This study employed spectral analysis, Source Parameter Imaging (SPI), and Euler deconvulation techniques on two aeoromagnetic data sheets (Illushi 286 and Nsukka 287) to assess the depth to sub-surface structures and estimate the depth to magnetic ...

Ductile and Brittle Rio Grande Rift Deformation in Oligocene Granite Records a Two‐Stage Rift History in Southern Colorado

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The timing and nature of early deformation in the Rio Grande Rift remains poorly constrained. We present evidence for the earliest structural signature of rift extension in the Sangre de Cristo Range, southern Colorado, based on new geologic mapping, structural analysis, rock magnetic data, and thermochronology. These analyses focus on the ∼30.

Aeromagnetic anomaly images of Vulcano and Southern Lipari Islands (Aeolian Archipelago, Italy)

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2004
Newly acquired high-resolution, low-altitude aeromagnetic data over Vulcano Island and Southwestern Lipari in the Southern Tyrrhenian Sea resolve the major volcanic features in the area associated with the past and present activity.

Kamafugite Magma Pathways and Lava‐Flow Paleotopography From Three‐Dimensional Audiomagnetotelluric Imaging Constrained by Borehole Data

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract An audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) survey was conducted within the Alto Paranaíba Igneous Province, southeastern Brazil, to delineate shallow occurrences of kamafugite, a rare ultrapotassic volcanic rock worldwide. A dense grid of AMT stations was deployed, allowing the construction of a high‐resolution 3D electrical resistivity model ...

Distinct Transcrustal Evolutions of Komatiitic Primitive Magma: Implications for the Compositional Dichotomy of Continental Flood Basalts

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The origin of the compositional dichotomy between high‐Ti and low‐Ti basalts in continental flood basalt provinces remains debated. Most existing studies attribute this dichotomy directly to variations in primitive magma composition to circumvent the complexities of significant evolutionary processes, such as multiphase fractional ...

Along‐Strike Variations in Sub‐Arc Melting Beneath the Alaska Peninsula Revealed by P‐Wave Attenuation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The diverse volcanic activity in the Alaska Peninsula section of the Alaska‐Aleutian subduction zone is presumably caused by substantial variations in mantle wedge melting or trans‐crustal processes beneath the arc. In this study, we investigate sub‐arc melting beneath the Alaska Peninsula by measuring P‐wave attenuation, as attenuation is ...

The Geologic History of the Chehalis Forearc Basin, Washington State, USA

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract The Chehalis basin is located between the Cascade arc and the Coast Range in southwest Washington State. It consists of sedimentary and volcanic rocks deposited throughout the Cenozoic and is underlain by the Siletzia terrane, a thick, large igneous province accreted in the Eocene.
