An Aeromagnetic Compensation Algorithm Based on a Temporal Convolutional Network
Aeromagnetic compensation is the main method for eliminating magnetic interference on flight platforms. With the improved sensitivity of aeromagnetic sensors, the generalization and compensation accuracy of existing aeromagnetic compensation methods have

Evidence from Strandings for Geomagnetic Sensitivity in Cetaceans [PDF]
We tested the hypothesis that cetaceans use weak anomalies in the geomagnetic field as cues for orientation, navigation and/or piloting. Using the positions of 212 stranding events of live animals in the Smith sonian compilation which fall within the ...

Mantle Dynamic Topography of the Fringing Oceanic Basins of Antarctica
Abstract Dynamic mantle processes are known to influence oceanic basins with implications for ocean circulation and climate. This study exploits an interdisciplinary approach to probe present‐day mantle and lithosphere beneath Antarctica's fringing oceanic basins to better understand sub‐crustal processes and implications for the continental realm.

Abstract Lithological mapping is essential for the exploration of critical minerals supporting energy transition and national defense. Although recent advancements have incorporated multi‐source data sets and leveraged machine learning and deep learning (DL) methods, lithological mapping continues to face significant challenges, such as data imbalance,

Aeromagnetic survey in Kusatsu-Shirane volcano, central Japan, by using an unmanned helicopter
Kusatsu-Shirane volcano is one of the active volcanoes in Japan. Phreatic explosions occurred in Mt. Shirane in 1983 and most recently, in 2018, in Mt. Motoshirane.

An aeromagnetic survey of Kansas, conducted by the Kansas Geological Survey during the past 5 years, has been completed. The total intensity magnetic field contour map, along with spectrally filtered versions, reveals largescale magnetic patterns, which we correlate with basement composition and paleotectonics.A second vertical derivative map clearly ...

Rethinking Collinearity in Self‐Organizing Maps: Evidence From Geophysical Data Classification
Abstract This study examines the impact of collinearity on unsupervised machine learning algorithms (UMLAs), specifically Self‐Organizing Maps (SOMs), for detecting lithological boundaries in geophysical data. Using a multi‐scale experimental framework that includes bivariate isotropic clusters, geologically complex Noddy simulations, and real‐world ...

Interpretation of ground and aeromagnetic surveys of Palmer Land, Antarctic Peninsula
Aeromagnetic data for Palmer Land provide new information on crustal structures of the Antarctic Peninsula. Features shown on the compilation of the Lassiter Coast and Orville Coast are characterized by systems of subparallel regional anomaly zones and ...
