A Robust Control Algorithm for Path Tracking by an Oceanographic Unmanned Aeronautical Vehicle

OCEANS 2007 - Europe, 2007
We present a path tracking algorithm for navigation of an oceanographic unmanned aeronautical vehicle. Aircraft bank angle is used to maintain desired closing speeds along and normal to the desired track. The algorithm is capable of tracking linear and circular path segments.

An Aeronautical Ad Hoc Network routing protocol based on air vehicles movement features

2016 22nd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM), 2016
To solve the problem that the current routing protocols in MANET cannot be used in AANET (Aeronautical Ad Hoc Networks), we propose the Hierarchical Space routing protocol (HSRP). Section 1 of the full paper gives five definitions that we have come up to find useful in describing HSRP protocol.

Wright Brothers Lectureship in Aeronautics: Experience with HiMAT remotely piloted research vehicle - An alternate flight test approach

Aircraft Systems, Design and Technology Meeting, 1986
The highly maneuverable aircraft technology (HiMAT) program explored the various and complex interactions of advanced technologies, such as aeroelastic tailoring, close-coupled canard, and relaxed static stability. A 0.44-subscale remotely piloted research vehicle (RPRV) of a hypothetical fighter airplane was designed and flight-tested to determine the

Evaluation of Motor Vehicles, Aeronautics, Astronautics Collections Using White's Power Method of Collection Analysis

Collection Management, 2010
The motor vehicles, aeronautics, and astronautics collection at Iowa State University (ISU) was compared with the collections at 14 other research libraries using the coverage power test method developed by Howard D. White. The coverage power test method by White is an extension of his brief test method utilized to determine a subject collection's ...

Development of self-healing mechanisms in aeronautical vehicles

2017
The idea to apply self-healing composites in aeronautics is one of the biggest challenge facing materials scientists. Composite materials are subject to weakening due to impact damage on the structural integrity of the material. Most damaging mechanical stresses in the aircraft are the impacts of the hail on the fuselage crown during a storm, the ...

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics: Aerial Firefighting Aircraft Design Competition; Implementation of Autonomous Vehicles into Society in the United States

2022
Wildfires are of environmental concern as they spread quickly over combustible vegetation and destroy large amounts of land. Controlling these wildfires is a global issue, the concern stemming from the increasing number of acres of land that are burned annually in the past 30 years, despite the slight decrease in the number of annual wildfires.
