Out There No One Has a Right to Die

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The eventual goal of space exploration is to colonize exoplanets and their moons outside our solar system. This is a dangerous and immoral endeavour. The extraterrestrial life forms encountered would be hostile, vulnerable or both, and the descendants of the original pioneers would be involuntarily exposed to hazardous conditions and ...

Women in space: A review of known physiological adaptations and health perspectives

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure to the spaceflight environment causes adaptations in most human physiological systems, many of which are thought to affect women differently from men. Since only 11.5% of astronauts worldwide have been female, these issues are largely understudied.

Advanced numerical simulations of turbulent separations in the vicinity of aeronautical vehicle walls

open access: yes, 2022

Confined spaces in space: Cerebral implications of chronic elevations of inspired carbon dioxide and implications for long‐duration space travel

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cerebrovascular regulation is critically dependent upon the arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2${P_{{\mathrm{aC}}{{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{2}}}}}$), owing to its effect on cerebral blood flow, tissue PCO2${P_{{\mathrm{C}}{{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{2}}}}}$, tissue proton concentration, cerebral metabolism and cognitive and neuronal ...

Designing and Simulating the Aeronautical Telemetry Radio Link for an Air Vehicle with Fast Maneuver

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2009
Aeronautical telemetry system is applied to real flight conditions and movements so as to test the efficiency of different parts of an air vehicle such as an airplane, a missile, and a space shuttle during the flight. In order to study, determine and lessen the deleterious effects of the air vehicle's flight maneuvers upon the aeronautical telemetry ...

Building a Continental‐Scale Geodetic Network: The Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO)

open access: yesPerspectives of Earth and Space Scientists, Volume 7, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract The Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) transformed the use of geodesy in North America to study crustal deformation and plate boundary processes by establishing a continental‐scale, standardized, open‐access geodetic network. Built and operated by UNAVCO between 2003 and 2018 as part of the National Science Foundation (NSF)‐funded EarthScope ...
