β‐Catenin localization in the ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi suggests an ancestral role in cell adhesion and nuclear function

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The emergence of multicellularity in animals marks a pivotal evolutionary event, which was likely enabled by molecular innovations in the way cells adhere and communicate with one another. β‐Catenin is significant to this transition due to its dual role as both a structural component in the cadherin–catenin complex and as a ...

On the Feasibility of Indoor Broadband Secondary Access to 960-1215 MHz Aeronautical Spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of indoor broadband service provisioning using secondary spectrum access to the 960-1215 MHz band, primarily allocated to the distance measuring equipment (DME) system for aeronautical navigation. We propose a practical secondary sharing scheme customized to the characteristics of the DME.

Adaptive Coding and Modulation for Large-Scale Antenna Array Based Aeronautical Communications in the Presence of Co-channel Interference [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In order to meet the demands of `Internet above the clouds', we propose a multiple-antenna aided adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) for aeronautical communications. The proposed ACM scheme switches its coding and modulation mode according to the distance between the communicating aircraft, which is readily available with the aid of the airborne radar

Wearable Multifunctional Health Monitoring Systems Enabled by Ultrafast Flash‐Induced 3D Porous Graphene

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Wearable multifunctional health monitoring system was developed for real‐time biosignal detection. Porous graphene was rapidly synthesized using a flash lamp, and defect‐free electrodes were fabricated with carbon nanotube (CNT)‐polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocomposite ink via screen printing.

Agile Missile Controller Based on Adaptive Nonlinear Backstepping Control [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, Vol. 57, No. 1, 2014, pp. 9-20, 2012
This paper deals with a nonlinear adaptive autopilot design for agile missile systems. In advance of the autopilot design, an investigation of the agile turn maneuver, based on the trajectory optimization, is performed to determine state behaviors during the agile turn phase.
