Deduction of Proper Reaction Rate of Steam Methane Reforming over Catalyst Surface Validated with a Combination of One- and Two-Dimensional Simulations

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2012
Hydrogen can be used not only as a fuel, but also for the chemical processing. One of the applications is as a synthesis gas in the gas-to-liquid (GTL) process which produces liquid fuel from a gaseous one and has tremendous potential for the future ...

Ultrafast Optoacoustics Reveals Intricate 3D Anisotropic Elasticity in Nanocrystalline Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultrafast optoacoustic spectroscopy combined with a Sagnac interferometer enables non‐contact, simultaneous characterization of thickness and the full three‐dimensional anisotropic elastic constants in freestanding nanocrystalline copper membranes. By capturing gigahertz Lamb waves and zero‐group‐velocity resonances followed by SAFE‐GA inversion, the ...

Origami Metamaterials Based on Low‐Melting‐Point Alloy Phase Transition: Breaking the Trade‐Off Between Reusability and Energy Absorption Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents an origami metamaterial that integrates a low‐melting‐point alloy skeleton into an elastomeric shell. It dissipates energy through the metal's plastic deformation and recovers through the solid–liquid phase transition of the alloy together with the hyperelasticity of the shell.
