Ultrathin, Stretchable, and 3D‐Printable Complementary Nanotubes–Polymer Composites for Multimodal Radiation Shielding in Extreme Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable dual‐mode radiation shielding material is introduced by combining boron nitride nanotubes and single‐walled carbon nanotubes in a stretchable PDMS matrix. The complementary nanotube network enables simultaneous attenuation of electromagnetic interference and neutron radiation while maintaining lightweight, mechanical resilience, and ...

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...

Reinforcement Learning for Semi-Active Vertical Dynamics Control with Real-World Tests

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In vertical vehicle dynamics control, semi-active dampers are used to enhance ride comfort and road-holding with only minor additional energy expenses. However, a complex control problem arises from the combined effects of (1) the constrained semi-active

The solid state remote power controller: Its status, use and perspective [PDF]

open access: yes
Solid state remote power controllers (RPC's) are now available to control and protect all types of loads in both ac and dc power distribution systems. RPC's possess many outstanding qualities that make them attractive for most system applications.

Self‐Oscillating Helix Showing Amplified Winding and Unwinding Motions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The hydrogel helix exhibits autonomous oscillation synchronized with the Ru(bpy)32+/3+ redox cycle in the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction. Periodic winding–unwinding accompanies magnified motion along one direction within the gel phase. ABSTRACT Helical architectures in nature amplify motion via winding–unwinding.

Gamification in Automated Air Traffic Control: Increasing Vigilance Using Fictional Aircraft

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Transport and Infrastructure Research
The introduction of more advanced automation in air traffic control seems inevitable. Air traffic controllers will then take the role of automation supervisors, a role which is generally unsuitable for humans.
