Thermochromic Gires‐Tournois Resonators with Tellurium for Battery Thermal Runaway Warning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A thermochromic Gires‐Tournois (GT) resonator with a thin tellurium layer enables rapid, reversible, and untethered detection of battery surface temperature <80 °C. Exploiting tellurium's refractive index change driven by a thermally induced phase transition between solid and quasi‐liquid states, the GT resonator visualizes heat propagation, providing ...

Autonomous Seeding of Microparticles on the Inner Surface of Polymer Hollow Microfibers Using Hydrodynamic Forces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Microparticle displacement in viscoelastic PEGalginate co‐flows was utilized to fabricate alginate hollow microfibers. Increasing alginate concentration and core flow enhanced confinement and nearly doubled seeding density, providing a simple microfluidic strategy for efficient biofabrication, cellular seeding, and tissue engineering applications ...

Reduced Passivity and Enhanced Pitting Around Crack Tip Measured Using Scanning Electrochemical Cell Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
High‐resolution scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) mapping shows that plastic deformation near fatigue cracks in CA6NM stainless steel progressively reduces passivity and increases pitting susceptibility. This work reveals how mechanical stress drives localized corrosion in corrosion‐fatigue conditions.
