Microvibration suppression of an aerostatic thrust bearing adopting flow field disturbance structure

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
The locally unsteady flow field near the orifice outlet of an aerostatic thrust bearing causes the gas pressure fluctuation on the bearing surface, which induces microvibration even if an invariable load acts on the bearing.

Effect of Pressure Equalization Groove Structure on Static Characteristics of Aerostatic Bearings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
In order to improve the load capacity and stiffness, the pressure-equalizing groove is introduced into the structure of aerostatic bearing, which can optimize the mechanics characteristics.

COMPARATIVE SIMULATION ANALYSIS OF AEROSTATIC THRUST BEARING AND ORIFICE-TYPE AEROSTATIC THRUST BEARING

open access: yesKashf Journal of Multidisciplinary Research
This research presents a comprehensive numerical simulation study comparing the performance of porous-type and orifice-type aerostatic thrust bearings using ANSYS Fluent. Detailed 3D CAD models were developed to reflect realistic geometries, followed by high-quality meshing and parameterized simulations under varying air film thicknesses, restrictor ...

STIFFNESS EVALUATION OF AEROSTATIC SPINDLE BASED ON NON-IDEAL CYLINDRICAL SURFACES

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2019
The non-ideal cylindrical surface model based on profile measurement was built by using Geomagic Studio software, and it was imported into UG12.0 to create the aerostatic bearing simulation model, which can be simulated by using ANSYS WORKBENCH software.

Influence of T-shaped Pressure-equalization Grooves on Static Characteristics of Aerostatic Bearings under Offset Loads [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Aerostatic thrust bearings are highly susceptible to tilting under offset loads, which can cause bearing failure. To enhance the load-carrying capacity and tilting moment resistance of bearings under tilted operating conditions, this study proposes a ...

An infinite-stiffness aerostatic thrust bearing.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 1990

Numerical Analysis of Orifice-Type Aerostatic Thrust Bearing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This thesis provides the study about an analysis of aerostatic thrust bearing. In a very high-speed machine, regular bearing cannot be used. At very high speed about 300000 rpm to 600000 rpm, typical bearing gets high friction and wear.

CFD-Based Analysis of Loading Performance and Hydrodynamic Effects in a Partial-Arc Aerostatic Radial Bearing

open access: yesLubricants
With the widespread use of high-speed motorized spindles in precision machining, conventional contact loading methods are no longer adequate for stiffness loading tests under high-speed operating conditions.
