Static characteristics of aerostatic porous journal bearings with a surface-restricted layer
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2003Graphite porous materials have been successfully used in an aerostatic bearing. This is because graphite porous materials have a lower permeability than porous metal, which makes it possible to achieve a higher stiffness in aerostatic bearings. However, aerostatic porous bearings have a disadvantage in that they are prone to cause pneumatic hammer ...

Dynamic Characteristics of Aerostatic Porous Journal Bearings With a Surface-Restricted Layer
Journal of Tribology, 2010Aerostatic porous bearings have been successfully applied to various precision devices such as machine tools and measuring equipment to achieve a higher accuracy of motion. However, aerostatic porous bearings have a disadvantage in that they are prone to cause pneumatic hammer instability.

The numerical solution of aerostatic journal bearings with several supply ports
Wear, 1970Abstract An analysis concerning load, flow and stiffness of an aerostatic journal bearing with several supply holes is made using a numerical method of solution. Bearing performance curves are presented for various bearing design parameters. A design procedure either for maximum load or maximum stiffness of a finite bearing is also indicated.

Modeling, simulation and testing of aerostatic journal bearing kit
2006The research on dynamics, modeling and the results of experimental tests of the rotor system rotating in aerostatic bearing with a floating bush or without it is presented in this article. The dependence of rotor vibration intensity on the waviness of the cylinder surfaces of bearing elements was tested and simulated.
