Study on Tilt Properties of Orifice-Compensated Aerostatic Thrust Bearings

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Under different throttle type, the bearing lateral force is calculated with the heeling angle changed by using the finite volume method. Also, cavity diameter and depth are selected, which can get influence on bearing lateral force in the same heeling angle.

Research on the static characteristics of circular thrust porous aerostatic bearings

2015 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA), 2015
The three-dimensional models of circular thrust porous aerostatic bearings were built and the simulations were carried out with the Fluent software. The effect of the porous material thickness, the working surface error and the rotating speed on the static characteristics of circular thrust bearings were studied. The following conclusions were obtained.

Experience Relating to the Steady Performance of Aerostatic Porous Thrust Bearings

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1975
Good agreement between calculated and actual performance of aerostatic porous thrust bearings is possible provided account is taken of several practical influences. Those considered are elastic deflection of the porous pad, sheer distortion of the pad bond, surface finish of the pad and nature of the gas flow through it.

Effects of Bearing Surface Geometries on the Inclination Stiffness of Aerostatic Thrust Bearings

2002
This paper describes the effects of bearing surface geometries on the inclination stiffness of aerostatic annular thrust bearings with inherently compensated restrictors (annular orifices). Guidelines are presented to improve the tilt stiffness by modification of the bearing clearance profile, and a desirable profile is proposed.

Analysis of pneumatic hammer in rectangular aerostatic thrust bearing with groove

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
The pneumatic hammer in rectangular aerostatic thrust bearings with groove is analyzed using perturbation theory. Routh stability criterion was used to evaluate the critical condition of pneumatic hammer in rectangular aerostatic thrust bearings with groove, and the influence of supply pressure, throttle area, groove area, and thickness of film on ...

Analysis of aerostatic porous rectangular thrust bearings with offset loads

Wear, 1980
Abstract A general solution for an aerostatic porous rectangular thrust bearing with an offset load is presented. When the pad thickness is small compared with the other two dimensions the pressure in the porous pad is obtained in closed form. The modified Reynolds equation is solved numerically using a finite difference method.

Effect of slip flow in aerostatic porous rectangular thrust bearings

Wear, 1980
Abstract A theoretical analysis of the static characteristics of aerostatic porous rectangular thrust bearings with uniform film thickness is presented. A modified form of the Beavers-Joseph slip velocity boundary condition is applied at the interface of the porous pad and the lubricating film. When the thickness of the pad is small compared with the
