Study on Static Characteristics of Annular Array Microporous Aerostatic Bearing
In this paper, an aerostatic bearing model in the form of microorifice annular array is designed to explore the static performance of aerostatic bearing when the orifice diameter and working air film thickness are of the same order of magnitude. Firstly, the simulation model of the new bearing is established, the pressure distribution of the bearing ...

Abstract As one of the most advanced and precise equipment in the world, a photolithography scanner is able to fabricate nanometer‐scale devices on a chip. To realize such a small dimension, the optical system is the fundamental, but the mechanical system often becomes the bottleneck. In the photolithography, the exposure is a dynamic process.

The gas‐lubricated thrust bearing is widely used in agriculture mechanical systems, and the groove shape plays an important role on the hydrodynamic behavior of spiral‐grooved thrust bearing (SGTB). Although the groove shape may change smaller, it is clear that the hydrodynamic response is very sensitive to the groove parameters.

Experimental Identification of an Aerostatic Thrust Bearing [PDF]
Conventional approaches to design aerostatic bearings are based on their static characteristics. However, dynamic predictions are fundamental in order to obtain very precise positioning since air bearings are frequently subjected to dynamic load variations.

Introduction—Up, down, round and round: Verticalities in the history of science
Abstract History of science's spatial turn has focused on the horizontal dimension, leaving the role of the vertical mostly unexplored as both a condition and object of scientific knowledge production. This special issue seeks to contribute to a burgeoning discussion on the role of verticality in modern sciences, building upon a wider interdisciplinary
