Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The decomposition and classification of radiant affine 3-manifolds
An affine manifold is a manifold with torsion-free flat affine connection. A geometric topologist's definition of an affine manifold is a manifold with an atlas of charts to the affine space with affine transition functions; a radiant affine manifold is ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A comment on metric vs metric-affine gravity
We consider the sum of the Einstein-Hilbert action and a Pontryagin density (PD) in arbitrary even dimension D≥4. All curvatures are functions of independent affine (torsionless) connections only.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Invariants for Second Type Almost Geodesic Mappings of Symmetric Affine Connection Space
This paper presents the results concerning a space of invariants for second type almost geodesic mappings. After discussing the general formulas of invariants for mappings of symmetric affine connection spaces, based on these formulas, invariants for ...

About a class of three-dimensional submanifolds in affine space A^6
A three-dimensional submanifold M in affine space A^6 is studied by the method of exterior forms. It is proven that the structure of total space generates a special type of affine connection on this submanifold; the structure equations of M are found.

Cosmological constant and Euclidean space from nonperturbative quantum torsion
Heisenberg's nonperturbative quantization technique is applied to the nonpertrubative quantization of gravity. An infinite set of equations for all Green's functions is obtained. An approximation is considered where: (a) the metric remains as a classical

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
