Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Orlicz Mean Dual Affine Quermassintegrals

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2018
Our main aim is to generalize the mean dual affine quermassintegrals to the Orlicz space. Under the framework of dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory, we introduce a new affine geometric quantity by calculating the first Orlicz variation of the mean dual ...

DCTM: Discrete-Continuous Transformation Matching for Semantic Flow

open access: yes, 2017
Techniques for dense semantic correspondence have provided limited ability to deal with the geometric variations that commonly exist between semantically similar images.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Nekrasov's Partition Function and Refined Donaldson-Thomas Theory: the Rank One Case

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2012
This paper studies geometric engineering, in the simplest possible case of rank one (Abelian) gauge theory on the affine plane and the resolved conifold.

Adaptable nonlinear bimode metamaterials with rigid bars, pivots, and actuators

open access: yes, 2012
A large family of periodic planar non-linear bimode metamaterials are constructed from rigid bars and pivots. They are affine materials in the sense that their macroscopic deformations are only affine deformations: at large distances any deformation must

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Locally linear attributes of ReLU neural networks

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence, 2023
A ReLU neural network functions as a continuous piecewise linear map from an input space to an output space. The weights in the neural network determine a partitioning of the input space into convex polytopes, where each polytope is associated with a ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

On the Non Metrizability of Berwald Finsler Spacetimes

open access: yesUniverse, 2020
We investigate whether Szabo’s metrizability theorem can be extended to Finsler spaces of indefinite signature. For smooth, positive definite Finsler metrics, this important theorem states that, if the metric is of Berwald type (i.e., its Chern–Rund ...
