The impact of human-technology cooperation and distributed cognition in forensic science: biasing effects of AFIS contextual information on human experts*

open access: yes, 2011
Experts play a critical role in forensic decision making, even when cognition is offloaded and distributed between human and machine. In this paper, we investigated the impact of using Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) on human decision

Improved Myocardial Sodium Quantification at 7 T Using Interleaved 23Na/1H pTx MRI With Motion and Anatomy‐Based B1 Correction

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To improve accuracy and repeatability of myocardial 23Na quantification in cardiac MRI at 7 T by combining retrospective respiratory and cardiac motion correction with a novel anatomy‐based B1 bias field correction. Methods In this study, a dual‐nuclear interleaved 23Na/1H MRI sequence at 7 T was applied.

Signal and Contrast Optimization With Predicted Excitations (SCOPE) for Accelerating Large FOV Body Imaging at UHF

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Large FOV turbo‐spin‐echo (TSE) imaging at ultra‐high field (UHF) remains challenging due to B1+ inhomogeneity and peak specific absorption rate (pSAR) limitations. This work presents a new time‐interleaved acquisition of modes (TIAMO) framework called SCOPE (Signal and Contrast Optimization with Predicted Excitations), which overcomes

Key technology research for mobile police terminal fingerprint collection for quick comparison using automated fingerprint identification system

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Science and Medicine, 2019
When the face of the inspected person and the photograph on their identification (ID) card cannot be clearly matched, the individual is undocumented, or the ID is forged, it is often difficult for the on-site police to respond in time.

Evidence for different seeding activities of misfolded tau in classical and rapidly progressive Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
The study analyzed the seeding activity of misfolded tau protein in Alzheimer's disease and rapidly progressive Alzheimer's disease patients and provides evidence for the existence of different tau assemblies supported by differences in cellular toxicity and morphology of thioflavin T‐positive real‐time quaking‐induced conversion products.
