Predictions for The Very Early Afterglow and The Optical Flash

open access: yes, 1999
According to the internal-external shocks model for $\gamma $-ray bursts (GRBs), the GRB is produced by internal shocks within a relativistic flow while the afterglow is produced by external shocks with the ISM.

Advances in Halide Perovskites for Photon Radiation Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights recent progress in perovskite‐based photon radiation detectors, covering organic–inorganic hybrid, inorganic, lead‐free double, and vacancy‐ordered halide perovskites. Their detection performance is compared, material‐specific advantages and challenges are examined, and provides insight into current limitations and future ...

Identifying the Location in the Host Galaxy of the Short GRB 111117A with the Chandra Sub-arcsecond Position

open access: yes, 2013
We present our successful Chandra program designed to identify, with sub-arcsecond accuracy, the X-ray afterglow of the short GRB 111117A, which was discovered by Swift and Fermi.

Persistent Luminescence Analysis in the Frequency Domain

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A frequency‐domain framework is introduced to characterize persistent luminescence materials. This method surpasses the limitations of time‐domain techniques and provides a new approach to understanding and optimizing the photophysical behavior of complex luminescent systems involving processes with different temporal dynamics.

Kinetic Study of Atmospheric Pressure Nitrogen Plasma Afterglow Using Quantitative Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2017
Quantitative electron spin resonance spectroscopy is used to measure nitrogen atom density in atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge afterglow. The experiment shows that oxygen injection into early afterglow increases the nitrogen dissociation

Millimeter Observations of GRB 030329: Continued Evidence for a Two-Component Jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present the results of a dedicated campaign on the afterglow of GRB 030329 with the millimeter interferometers of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO), the Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland Association (BIMA), and with the MAMBO-2 bolometer array on the

First Tellurite Composite Fiber with NIR‐Driven Green Persistent Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The first composite fiber based on SrAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+ PeL phosphors embedded in Yb3+/Tm3+ co‐doped tellurite glass is developed. The fiber exhibits green afterglow driven by 980 nm laser injection, suggesting that the PeL phosphors survive the fabrication process and the blue upconversion from the Yb3+/Tm3+ co‐doped glass matrix is strong enough to ...

Matrix-induced defects and molecular doping in the afterglow of SiO2 microparticles

open access: yesNature Communications
A deep understanding of how the host matrix influences the afterglow properties of molecule dopants is crucial for designing advanced afterglow materials.

A generic approach towards afterglow luminescent nanoparticles for ultrasensitive in vivo imaging

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Afterglow luminescence is used to reduce background noise and increase sensitivity; however, biocompatible afterglow materials are limited. Here, the authors report on an approach to turn standard optical agents into afterglow nanoparticles and ...

Exploring Short-GRB afterglow parameter space for observations in coincidence with gravitational waves

open access: yes, 2018
Short duration Gamma Ray Bursts(SGRB) and their afterglows are among the most promising electro-magnetic (EM) counterparts of Neutron Star (NS) mergers.
