Structural transformation of Ag3PO4 and Ag3PO4/TiO2 induced by visible light and Cl− ions: its impact on their photocatalytic, antimicrobial, and antifungal performance

In this work, synthesis of Ag3PO4 and its composite with TiO2 (Ag3PO4/TiO2) toward study of two phenomena naturally occurring in Ag3PO4 is reported, specifically a visible light-driven (i.e., photocorrosion) and chloride ion-driven transformation of Ag3PO4 to AgCl in chloride-free and chloride-present aqueous solution.

Abstract AgBr/Ag3PO4 hybrid microstructures were synthesized by a facile method. These hybrids exhibited the enhanced photocatalytic performance for degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under the visible light illumination. The Ag3PO4/AgVO3/Ag4V2O7 composites were synthesized via a facile solution route for photodegrading the organic pollutants. Specifically, the Ag3PO4 microparticles were dispersed ultrasonically in the NH4VO3 aqueous solution for 3 h, with varying the NH4VO3 volumes for optimizing their photocatalytic (PC) activities.

The silver phosphate (Ag3PO4) sample was synthesized using Na3PO4, AgNO3 and PEG-10000 as raw materials by the hydrothermal method. Its different morphologies were obtained by changing temperature and surfactant. And its structures and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy.
