Molecular phylogeny of fig wasps Agaonidae are not monophyletic

Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series III - Sciences de la Vie, 1998
According to the present classification, the family Agaonidae contains all fig pollinators as well as five subfamilies of non-pollinating fig wasps. The molecular phylogeny of the family was reconstructed using partial sequences of the 28S rRNA (D1 and D2 domains). Our results show that the family Agaonidae is not monophyletic.

Fifteen polymorphic microsatellite loci in Wiebesia pumilae (Hill) (Agaonidae)

Conservation Genetics Resources, 2009
Pollinating fig wasps and their hosts establish a paradise for coevolution and sex ratio studies. High polymorphic molecular markers would be a great assistance for such studies. We developed 15 microsatellite markers from Wiebesia pumilae, the obligate pollinator of Ficus pumila, and estimated the polymorphism with 22 individual wasps from Yongjia ...

Chromosome numbers are not fixed in Agaonidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea)

Symbiosis, 2011
Agaonidae (the pollinators of fig trees, Ficus spp., Moraceae) are a distinctive family of chalcid wasps with uncertain affinities within the Chalcidoidea. Chromosome numbers have only been described previously for one species (Blastophaga psenes, 2n = 12, the pollinator of F. carica, of subgenus Ficus).

Agaonidae

Historically the circumscription of Agaonidae has varied considerably. Currently Agaonidae includes only species that are obligate pollinators (active or passive) of Ficus species (Moraceae), having coevolved with their host figs in an 80-million-year-old mutualism.

The Phylogeny of the Agaonidae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea)

Netherlands Journal of Zoology, 1981
This is an interim report on the analysis of the relationships within the Agaonidae (fig wasps). The family is subdivided into the two subfamilies Agaoninae and Blastophaginae. In the Agaoninae, three groups are recognized, according to their geographical distribution (i.e., Africa, Australia c.a., South America).

Fig wasps (Hymenoptera: Agaonidae and Torymidae) in New Zealand

New Zealand Entomologist, 2000
The symbiotic Hymenoptera associated with the Australian banyan figs Ficus macrophylla and F. rubiginosa and established in New Zealand are listed and keyed. Pseudidarnes minerva (Girault), Sycoscapter australis (Froggatt) and Megastigmus sp. are new records for the N.Z. fauna.
