Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Age Determination of the Molars

Medicine, Science and the Law, 1991
It has generally been acknowledged that the estimation of age may have a particular medico-legal significance, and that dental methods can be exceptionally useful (Cameron and Sims, 1973; Song and Jia, 1986a). The authors have studied the method for age estimation by using the theory of quantification (Type 1) and multiple stepwise regression analysis

The Determination of Fcetal Age

The British Journal of Radiology, 1948
The estimation of the age of a fœtus presents one of the most baffling problems in the whole of Medicine. Particularly is this so in the case of the earlier specimens which are of vital academic interest and are of equal importance medico-legally in cases of abortion following rape or illicit intercourse.

Determining the age of an insect

Parasitology Today, 1985
levels by the time the calves are moved once more to summer pasture, the worm burden is mostly arrested larvae. In this simulation, we assumed there were very few over-wintered infective larvae on the second summer pasture, and so the increase in egg counts predicted for August and September is attributable almost en- tirely to the maturation of ...

Early determinants of the ageing trajectory

Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2012
Over the past 250 years, human life expectancy has increased dramatically and continues to do so in most countries worldwide. Genetic factors account for about one third of variation in life expectancy so that most inter-individual variation in lifespan is explained by stochastic and environmental factors. The ageing process is plastic and is driven by
