Aging Characteristics of GIS seal ring (O-ring)
2020 12th IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2020The properties of the rubber seal ring determine the gas-tightness of the GIS. Previous research used the compression set as an important mechanical property to evaluate the aging of vulcanized rubber, but it is hard to be applied on retired seal ring sample due to its inaccessible initial data and non-standard shape.

LSI aging estimation using ring oscillators
2015 20th IEEE European Test Symposium (ETS), 2015Transistor aging occurs in nanoscale technologies and is one of the factors that degrade the performance of LSIs. This paper presents a method for estimating the amount of increment in the delay time of an LSI and a method for estimating the amount of increment in the threshold voltage per transistor from the changes in the period of two ring ...

Of rings and levers: the dynein motor comes of age
Trends in Cell Biology, 2004After nearly four decades of investigation, the dynein motor is finally on the verge of revealing its inner secrets. This multisubunit ATPase participates in several important microtubule-based motilities in eukaryotic cells. Numerous recent articles have advanced the understanding of the dynein motor substructure and its mechanism of force production,

As long as there is competition involved in livestock shows, there will be the tendency among some breeders to attempt to bend the rules on age. This same holds true, and even more so, with performance tests and bull test stations today. As long as there is this determination among breeders to win, there will be a need for some method to determine ...

Space Age Studies of Planetary Rings
2018INTRODUCTION: THE ALLURE OF THE RINGED PLANETS One of the most enduring symbols of space exploration is a planet surrounded by a ring. This symbol inspires a celestial context: nothing on Earth is like it. It has been a wonderful surprise that the ringed planets are just as beautiful and scientifically compelling seen close up.

Venerable or vulnerable: ageing and old age in JRR Tolkien’s The lord of the rings
Medical Humanities, 2007An underappreciated aspect of The lord of the rings (TLOTR) by JRR Tolkien is in how the author dealt with death, longevity and ageing in the work. During his early years, Tolkien endured first the passing of both parents and then the deaths of most of his friends during the First World War.

Influence of body size and age on mitral ring motion
Clinical Physiology, 1997Left ventricular systolic and diastolic function can be assessed by studying mitral ring motion. Reference values for a wide range of age and body size are lacking however. The motion of the mitral ring was studied with M‐mode echocardiography using the apical four‐ and two‐chamber views.

Influence of Ageing on Sealability of Elastomeric O‐Rings
Macromolecular Symposia, 2017SummaryAt BAM, which is the federal institute for materials research and testing in Germany, it is one of our tasks to evaluate the safety of casks designed for transport and/or storage of radioactive material. This includes the assessment of the service lifetime of elastomeric seals that are part of the container lid system with regard to the ...
