Agent based modeling of malaria
2014 IEEE Canada International Humanitarian Technology Conference - (IHTC), 2014This work explores the utility of an agent based model (ABM) for studying malaria prevalence and transmission. Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by Plasmodium parasites that are transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles.

A framework for the comparison of agent-based models
Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, 2022We develop a methodology for comparing agent-based models that are developed for the same domain, but may differ in the data sets (e.g., geographical regions) to which they are applied, and in the structure of the model. Our approach is to learn a response surface in the common parameter space of the models and compare the regions corresponding to ...

An agent-based model for financial vulnerability [PDF]
This study addresses a critical regulatory shortfall by developing a platform to extend stress testing from a microprudential approach to a dynamic, macroprudential approach. This paper describes the ensuing agent-based model for analyzing the vulnerability of the financial system to asset- and funding-based fire sales.

Tutorial on agent-based modeling and simulation
Journal of Simulation, 2006Agent-based modelling and simulation (ABMS) is a relatively new approach to modelling systems composed of autonomous, interacting agents. Agent-based modelling is a way to model the dynamics of complex systems and complex adaptive systems. Such systems often self-organize themselves and create emergent order.

An Agent-Based Model for Crowd Simulation
2023In this paper, we propose an agent-based model for crowd simulation. It is made up of two types of agents that act differently: collaboratives, which share information about the paths and/or repair the ones that have been damaged, and defectors, who share no information, destroy some paths and/or nodes, and take advantage of the collaborative agents ...

KAIZEN for Agent-Based Modeling
2008This paper discusses the importance of continuous activities for improvement to promote the concepts of agent-based modeling of the social simulation to the other scientific communities. Because such a continuous process is similar to the one in manufacturing systems as KAIZEN activities, I utilize the concepts of KAIZEN to describe the prescriptions ...

Agent-based models of organizations [PDF]
An organization is a collection of agents that interact and produce some form of output. Formal organizations - such as corporations and governments - are typically constructed for an explicit purpose though this purpose needn’t be shared by all organizational members.

The agent-based systems have emerged from the necessity to manage complexity. Building reliable, maintainable, extensible, and re-usable systems that conform to their specifications requires modeling techniques that support abstraction, structuring, and modularity.

Models for agent-based infrastructures. [PDF]
Agent-based systems have a key role to play in the effort to provide and support such applications, since agents embody several of the required characteristics for effective and robust operation in dynamic and heterogenous computing environments. However, there are a number of shortcomings relating to the use of the agent approach to application ...
