Summary Difflugia geosphaira sp. nov. is only the second agglutinate member of the genus Difflugia to be examined by transmission electron microscopy. Significant features of the cytoplasm are numerous dictyosomes, peroxisomes, endocellular bacteria and a nucleus with distinct nucleoli.
