A case of hemolytic anemia associated with interstitial lung disease, arthralgia and fever caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae

open access: yesItalian Journal of Medicine, 2021
Pulmonary interstitiopathies have become the most diagnosed forms of pneumonia in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The spectrum of interstitiopathies is broad and includes idiopathic diseases and secondary forms.

The Effect of Hemodilution on Cold Agglutinins

open access: yes, 2023
(J. Extra-Corpor. Technol. 19[3] p. 290-296 Fall 1987, 14 ref.) The effect of hypothermia in patients with cold agglutinin disease was studied in a patient with a strongly positive agglutination at 4°C (1:16,000 titer, a thermal amplitude of 30°C or less,

The dilemma of widal test - which brand to use? a study of four different widal brands: a cross sectional comparative study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, 2011
Background Serodiagnosis of typhoid fever by Widal test based on demonstrating the presence of agglutinins (antibodies) in the serum of an infected patient, against the H (flagellar) and O (somatic) antigens of Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi has been

Natural agglutinins to African trypanosomes

open access: yes, 2023
Summary Agglutinins to uncoated culture forms of the African trypanosomes, T. congolense and T.b. brucei were detected in sera from a variety of mammals not exposed to the parasites.

Both maternal and newborn IgMs inhibit influenza virus-induced hemagglutination in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2020
Most serum immunoglobulins M (IgMs) are “natural IgMs”, which are produced apparently spontaneously without exogenous antigenic or microbial stimuli. The IgMs are the first immunoglobulins expressed in the human fetus, and the maternal IgM do not cross ...

A unique case of red blood cell agglutination reaction on glass surface in otherwise normal sample

open access: yesAsian Journal of Transfusion Science
Autoimmune hemolytic anemias (AIHAs) are not very common, and autoimmunity is an important cause of hemolytic anemia, especially in female population. Some primary AIHAs are cold or warm agglutinin mediated anemia. Autoimmune reaction leads to macrophage

Two Chitotriose-Specific Lectins Show Anti-Angiogenesis, Induces Caspase-9-Mediated Apoptosis and Early Arrest of Pancreatic Tumor Cell Cycle. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The antiproliferative activity of two chito-specific agglutinins purified from Benincasa hispida (BhL) and Datura innoxia (DiL9) of different plant family origin was investigated on various cancer cell lines.

The natural bacterial agglutinins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1935
1. A study has been made of natural agglutination as exemplified by the reactions of the serum of nine animal species with a variety of bacteria.2. End-titres are recorded, and the fact is noted that sera of different animal species show an order of ...

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.
