Collagen aggregation phenomena

Biopolymers, 1966
AbstractThree processes by which tropocollagen units associate to yield highly specific aggregates have been examined. From the temperature coefficients of the amounts aggregated it is concluded that the complex “native” aggregation is endothermic, whereas both end‐to‐end and lateral aggregation are exothermic.

Aggregation phenomena in telechelic star polymer solutions

Physical Review E, 2009
Telechelic star polymers are macromolecules with functionalized, mutually attractive end groups. We employ computer simulations on a lattice to investigate the phase behavior of trifunctional telechelic stars as a function of the fraction lambda of attractive terminal monomers.

Aggregation Phenomena in Lignin

The present chapter describes a survey of the aggregation phenomena occurring during lignin nanostructures formation, the main variables affecting them, the most common strategies for their preparation and their applications. The interactions affecting the conformation of single lignin chains in a specific solvating environment pertain to cohesive ...

Protein Folding and Aggregation Phenomena

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
A simple lattice protein model is used to study the effects of aggregation phenomena on protein folding. Folding kinetics of non‐isolated protein molecules is studied: different molecules can interact each other and, in competition with folding, aggregation (formation of a dimer) can occur.

On the nature of interactions associated with aggregation phenomena in the mouth

Journal of Dentistry, 1979
Abstract The evidence to support therole of acalcium-bridging mechanismin aggregation phenomena in the mouth is discussed in relation to additional evidence to the contrary. Other possible aggregating mechanisms are discussed and a hypothesis is presented to support the role of the hydrophobic interaction in these processes.

Fluctuations and scaling in aggregation phenomena

Physical Review B, 2000
We introduce a method which enables us to isolate different sources of fluctuations during a typical aggregation process. As an example, we focus on the evolution of islands during irreversible submonolayer epitaxy. We show that only spatial fluctuations in island nucleation are required to produce the scaling of their size distribution as determined ...

Aggregation phenomena in the suspension polymerization of VCM

Colloid & Polymer Science, 1990
In the suspension polymerization of VCM, insoluble polymer particles are formed inside the monomer droplets. The growth and aggregation of these particles are responsible for important polymer properties, such as porosity. It is well established that the most characteristic polymer particles, the primary particles, are of a narrow distribu- tion with a
