The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

The effects of driver fatigue, gender, and distracted driving on perceived and observed aggressive driving behavior: A correlated grouped random parameters bivariate probit approach. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Previous research has shown that the determinants of perceived and observed aggressive driving behavior may differ. However, the consideration of major sources of aggressive patterns may introduce additional variations in the effect of such determinants.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The influence of food distribution on the aggressive behaviour of juvenile white-seabream (Diplodus sargus cadenati de la paz, bauchot and daget, 1974)

open access: yes, 1998
Experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of differences in the spatial distribution of food on the aggressive behaviour of juvenile white‐seabream, Diplodus sargus cadenati, both in the presence and in the absence of food.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Perceptions of Caregivers through Responses to Aggressive Behaviors in Demented Elderly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The purpose of this study was to explore caregiver responses to aggressive behaviors of elderly who live in long-term care institutions. The sample was 12 qualified caregivers including both care workers and helpers working for long-term care ...

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Aggressive behavior in adolescents with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Includes bibliographical references.Behavioral studies of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) have indicated that aggression is common amongst alcohol-exposed adolescents, and that it appears to become more prevalent with age in that population. Such
