THE HOST GALAXIES OF 23,000 AGN
Multiwavelength AGN Surveys, 2004We examine the relationship between galaxies, supermassive black holes and AGN using a sample of ~ 2 3 , 0 0 0 narrow-emission-line (Type 2) AGN drawn from a sample of ~ 1 2 3 , 0 0 0 galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We have studied how AGN host properties compare to those of normal galaxies and how they depend on the luminosity of the ...

Two-Dimensional Modeling of AGN Host Galaxies
2001We present a method to model the two-dimensional light distribution of Quasar and Seyfert 1 host galaxies by multi-component fitting. The method has been tested on a large set of simulations, showing its ability to recover total fluxes and morphological properties within the observational errors.

AGN, host galaxies, and starbursts
Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2019AbstractAGN by definition live in galaxies. Despite a long history of studies, there is still much ongoing research into the interplay of the nucleus and the host galaxy, how do they affect each other, how is their evolution intertwined. This review will briefly go over the historical developments behind the current understanding of AGN host galaxies ...

Host Galaxies of Radio-Loud AGN
1997We are studying the host galaxies and cluster environments of a sample of radio-loud AGN. The sample is large enough to compare sub-samples (quasars, FRI and FRII radio galaxies, RBL and XBL). First results show that elliptical host galaxies fall on the μ e — r e relation of bright elliptical galaxies.

AGN Host Galaxies at Intermediate Redshift
1997We analyse the stellar component of nearby Seyfert host galaxies using population and evolution synthesis methods. We propose to study the host galaxy properties of AGNs as a function of redshift with the ESO VLT.

Stellar Population Synthesis in AGN Host Galaxies
EAS Publications Series, 2001We are interested in the stellar content in the central region of active galaxies. In this aim, we perform stellar population synthesis of the integrated starlight in the Optical and NIR using a mathematical method (Pelat, 1997, MNRAS 284, 365) dedicated to the determination of the best solution (among the many local solutions) in the ...

Galaxies Hosting AGN Activity and Their Environments
2010Nuclear activity in galaxies (AGN) has recently started attracting a broader attention, in one hand, because of the relationship found between the mass of the central spheroidal regions of galaxies and the black holes they host. On the other hand, the output energy provided by AGN (feedback) seems to be crucial for current cosmological simulations to ...
