A Catalog of AGN Host Galaxies Observed with HST/ACS: Correlations between Star Formation and AGN Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present the Advanced Camera for Surveys Active Galactic Nuclei (ACS-AGN) Catalog, a catalog of 2585 active galactic nucleus (AGN) host galaxies that are at redshifts 0.2

Pair-Matching of Radio-Loud and Radio-Quiet AGNs

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are known to cover an extremely broad range of radio luminosities and the spread of their radio-loudness is very large at any value of the Eddington ratio.

Method for Determining AGN Accretion Phase in Field Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Recent observations of AGN activity in massive galaxies (log Mstar / Msun > 10.4) show that: 1) at z < 1, AGN-hosting galaxies do not show enhanced merger signatures compared to normal galaxies, 2) also at z < 1, most AGNs are hosted by quiescent galaxies; and 3) at z > 1, percentage of AGNs in star forming galaxies increases and becomes comparable to ...

Host Galaxies of the High-redshift AGNs in the GOODS Fields [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J. 629 (2005) 72-87, 2005
The star-formation rates and the stellar masses of the host galaxies of AGNs at high-redshifts are keys to understanding the evolution of the relation between the mass of the spheroidal component of a galaxy and the mass of its central black hole. We investigate the host galaxies of 31 AGNs with spectroscopic redshifts between 2 and 4 found in the deep

Image decomposition of barred galaxies and AGN hosts [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2008
I present the results of multi-component decomposition of V and R broadband images of a sample of 17 nearby galaxies, most of them hosting bars and active galactic nuclei. I use BUDDA v2.1 to produce the fits, allowing to include bars and AGN in the models. A comparison with previous results from the literature shows a fairly good agreement.

Active Galactic Nuclei in the Green Valley at z ∼ 0.7

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy using the MMT and Magellan infrared spectrograph for a sample of 29 massive galaxies ( $\mathrm{log}\ {M}_{* }/{M}_{\odot }\gtrsim 10$ ) at z ∼ 0.7 with optical spectroscopy from the Large Early Galaxy ...

Halfway to the Peak: Spatially Resolved Star Formation and Kinematics in a z = 0.54 Dusty Galaxy with JWST/MIRI

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
We present JWST Mid-InfraRed Instrument/Medium-Resolution Spectrometer (MIRI/MRS) observations of an infrared luminous disk galaxy, FLS1, at z ∼ 0.54. With a lookback time of 5 Gyr, FLS1 is chronologically at the midpoint between the peak epoch of star ...

Probing extreme black‐hole outflows on short timescales via high spectral‐resolution x‐ray imagers

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 345, Issue 6-7, July-August 2024.
Abstract We investigate outflows and the physics of super‐Eddington versus sub‐Eddington regimes in black hole systems. Our focus is on prospective science using next‐generation high‐resolution soft x‐ray instruments. We highlight the properties of black hole ultraluminous x‐ray source (ULX) systems in particular. Owing to scale invariance in accreting

Different Dependence of Narrow Hα Line Luminosity on Optical Continuum Luminosity between Star-forming Galaxies and Type 2 Active Galactic Nuclei: Globally Negative AGN Feedback in Local Type 2 AGN?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this manuscript, clues are provided to support globally negative active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback on star formation in the host galaxies of the local low-redshift Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Type 2 AGN, based on the different dependence of ...
