Color-Magnitude Relations of Active and Non-Active Galaxies in the Chandra Deep Fields: High-Redshift Constraints and Stellar-Mass Selection Effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
[Abridged] We extend color-magnitude relations for moderate-luminosity X-ray AGN hosts and non-AGN galaxies through the galaxy formation epoch in the Chandra Deep Fields. We utilized analyses of color-magnitude diagrams (CMDs) to assess the role of moderate-luminosity AGNs in galaxy evolution.

Examining supernova events in Type 1 active galactic nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A statistical study of intermediate Palomar Transient Factory supernovae (SNe) in Type 1 AGN has shown a major deficit of supernovae around Type 1 AGN host galaxies, with respect to Type 2 AGN hosts. The aim of this work is to test whether there is any preference for Type 1 AGN to host SN of a specific kind.

Chemical Evolution of the Universe and its Consequences for Gravitational‐Wave Astrophysics

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 536, Issue 2, February 2024.
Population properties of double compact object mergers (especially binary black holes) are sensitive to the metallicity dependent cosmic star formation history. The uncertainty of this quantity cannot be ignored and makes the interpretation of current gravitational wave observations difficult.

Star-formation in the host galaxies of radio-AGN [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Nuclei of Seyfert galaxies and QSOs - Central engine & conditions of star formation — PoS(Seyfert 2012), 2013
There exist strong evidence supporting the co-evolution of central supermassive black holes and their host galaxies. It is however still unclear what the exact role of nuclear activity, in the form of accretion onto these supermassive black holes, in this co-evolution is.

Galaxies Lighting Up: Discovery of Seventy New Turn-on Changing-look Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
“Changing-look active galactic nuclei” (CL AGN) show dramatic, rapid changes in optical/UV continuum and broad-line emission. The majority of CL AGN have been found dimming as “turn-off” CL AGN because most selection methods start from samples of ...

AGN Feedback Signatures in UV Emission

open access: yesGalaxies
Supermassive black holes (SMBH) are believed to influence galaxy evolution through AGN (active galactic nuclei) feedback. Galaxy mergers are key processes of galaxy formation that lead to AGN activity and star formation.

Typical AGN at intermediate redshifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the host galaxies and black holes of typical X-ray selected AGN at intermediate redshifts (z~0.5-1.4). The AGN are selected such that their spectral energy distributions are dominated by stellar emission, i.e., they show a prominent 1.6micron bump thus minimizing the AGN emission contamination.

UNCOVER: Candidate Red Active Galactic Nuclei at 3 < z < 7 with JWST and ALMA

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is revolutionizing our knowledge of z > 5 galaxies and their actively accreting black holes. Using the JWST Cycle 1 Treasury program Ultradeep NIRSpec and NIRCam Observations before the Epoch of Reionization (UNCOVER)

Study of AGN contribution on morphological parameters of their host galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2019
AbstractWe tested how the AGN contribution (5%–75% of the total flux) may affect different morphological parameters commonly used in galaxy classification. We carried out all analysis at z ∼ 0 and at higher redshifts that correspond to the COSMOS field.
