Image decomposition of barred galaxies and AGN hosts [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2008
I present the results of multi-component decomposition of V and R broadband images of a sample of 17 nearby galaxies, most of them hosting bars and active galactic nuclei. I use BUDDA v2.1 to produce the fits, allowing to include bars and AGN in the models. A comparison with previous results from the literature shows a fairly good agreement.

Active Dwarf Galaxy Database. II. Connections between Host Galaxy Properties and Black Hole Accretion Signatures

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We investigate the connection between accretion signatures and host galaxy properties in the context of how active dwarf galaxies are identified. We use the database constructed in E. J. Wasleske & V. F.

Black holes in the low-mass galaxy regime

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have been observed in dwarf galaxies, yet the impact of black hole feedback in these low-mass systems remains unclear. Aims.

Host galaxy evolution in radio-loud AGN [PDF]

open access: yesNew Astronomy Reviews, 2006
Abstract We investigate the luminosity evolution of the host galaxies of radio-loud AGN through Hubble Space Telescope imaging of 72 BL Lac objects. This sample has enabled us to avoid the biases implicit in quasar studies. We find that the host galaxies of BL Lacs evolve strongly, consistent with that observed in the hosts of other radio-loud AGN ...

AGN Feedback Signatures in UV Emission

open access: yesGalaxies
Supermassive black holes (SMBH) are believed to influence galaxy evolution through AGN (active galactic nuclei) feedback. Galaxy mergers are key processes of galaxy formation that lead to AGN activity and star formation.

UNCOVER: Candidate Red Active Galactic Nuclei at 3 < z < 7 with JWST and ALMA

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is revolutionizing our knowledge of z > 5 galaxies and their actively accreting black holes. Using the JWST Cycle 1 Treasury program Ultradeep NIRSpec and NIRCam Observations before the Epoch of Reionization (UNCOVER)

Decomposition of AGN host galaxy images

open access: yes, 2004
We describe an algorithm to decompose deep images of Active Galactic Nuclei into host galaxy and nuclear components. Currently supported are three galaxy models: A de-Vaucouleurs spheroidal, an exponential disc, and a two-component disc+bulge model. Key features of the method are: (semi-)analytic representation of a possibly spatially variable point ...

Star-forming Nuclear Clusters in Dwarf Galaxies Mimicking Active Galactic Nucleus Signatures in the Mid-infrared

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Effectively finding and identifying active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in dwarf galaxies is an important step in studying black hole formation and evolution.

AGN Host Galaxy Morphologies in COSMOS

open access: yes, 2008
We use HST/ACS images and a photometric catalog of the COSMOS field to analyze morphologies of the host galaxies of approximately 400 AGN candidates at redshifts 0.3 < z < 1.0. We compare the AGN hosts with a sample of non-active galaxies drawn from the COSMOS field to match the magnitude and redshift distribution of the AGN hosts. We perform 2-D

Shapes of galaxies hosting radio-loud AGNs with z ≤ 1

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2022
Links between the properties of radio-loud active galactic nuclei (RLAGNs) and the morphology of their hosts may provide important clues for our understanding of how RLAGNs are triggered. In this work, focusing on passive galaxies, we study the shape of the hosts of RLAGNs selected from the Karl G.
