Linking Plant Metabolomics with Fungal Functional Dynamics Reveals a Noncanonical S‐R‐C Adaptive Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using field‐based holo‐omics, we demonstrate that developmental shifts in sorghum leaf metabolomes drive a noncanonical fungal succession from stress tolerators (S) through ruderals (R) to competitors (C). Antifungal metabolites in young leaves select for S strategists with expanded genomes, transient maltose pulses during flowering favor fast‐growing ...

Evolutionary characteristics of the relationship between urban intensive land use and carbon emissions in China's three major coastal urban agglomerations

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Cities
Under mounting global pressure for carbon emission mitigation, China—currently the world's largest carbon emission contributor—confronts the critical challenge of reconciling emission reduction targets with sustained economic growth and progressive ...

Rotary and subsoiling tillage rotations influence soil carbon and nitrogen sequestration and crop yield

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2022
Long-term single tillage causes serious deterioration of land quality and reduction of crop yield. Tillage rotation can alleviate the problems caused by long-term single tillage. However, the effects of different tillage rotations are still very limited.

Droughts and Agriculture in Lebanon

open access: yes, 2018
This volume examines the causes and consequences of drought on Lebanon’s agriculture. Lebanon is getting hotter and dryer. Projections show droughts will likely become more frequent and severe. Climate change, El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) impact the occurrence of drought to varying degrees, with NAO ...

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Pemantauan Dan Peringatan Dini Kekeringan Pertanian Di Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
. Agricultural drought is the most complex natural hazard and affects large areas then causes significant drops in food production. In Indonesia, paddy field drought occurs almost every year and extends during El Niño phenomena with severe consequences ...

A Virus‐Inducible E3–RLCK–MADS Module Coordinates Suppression of Plant Immunity and Fertility in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Viruses often hijack host developmental programs to promote infection, but the mechanistic links between reproductive regulation and antiviral immunity remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a virus‐triggered hierarchical degradation cascade that links antiviral immunity and fertility regulation in rice. We show that the rice grassy

Impact of the Drought on Corn Exports: Paying the Price [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the summer of 2012, weather conditions caused the most severe drought the United States has seen since the 1950s. This drought affected agricultural crops across the nation. As a result of drought-related crop damage, U.S.
