Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Multilayer Self‐Limiting Electrospray Deposition via Stepped Voltage Bias

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐limiting electrospray deposition (SLED) uses a high voltage to generate and deposit a charged payload on a target surface. The coating retains its charge, repelling newly arriving material. SLED thickness can be decreased by applying a secondary bias to the target.

Monitoring agricultural field trafficability using Sentinel-1

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management, 2019
The use of heavy mobile machinery in agriculture for tillage and harvesting is now indispensable since it facilitates farming over large areas. However, one of the impacts of regular and prolonged use of heavy mobile machinery is soil compaction. To help minimize this harmful effect, trafficability of agricultural fields needs to be determined.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
