Tokom epidemiološkog istraživanja učestalosti kroničnih bolesti stanovništva u SR Hrvatskoj, 1982. godine pregledan je uzorak stanovništva u životnoj dobi od 48 do 67 godina. Uzorkom je bilo obuhvaćeno i 128 stanovnika - poljoprivrednika iz pretežno agrarnog područja općine Virovitica i 25 stanovnika - poljoprivrednika s otoka Visa.
