The Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) within the Agricultural Industry to Address General and Manufacturing Problems

open access: yesFluids
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a numerical tool often used to predict anticipated observations using only the physics involved by numerically solving the conservation equations for energy, momentum, and continuity.

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...

Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

The nicotinamide hypothesis revisited—plant defense signaling integrating PARP, nicotinamide, nicotinic acid, epigenetics, and glutathione

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nicotinamide (NIC) and nicotinic acid (NIA) are proposed as stress signaling compounds in plants. Oxidative stress may lead to single strand breaks (SSB) in DNA, which activate poly(ADP‐ribose) polymerase (PARP). NIC and NIA are then formed from NAD. NIC and NIA can promote epigenetic changes leading to the expression of defense genes specific for the ...

Genetic diversity of some apple cultivars in the south of Syria based on morphological characters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environment, 2015
This work was aimed to evaluate genetic diversity among five local and six introduced apple cultivars in the germplasm which located in the South of Syria based on 29 morphological characters of leaf and fruit. The analysis of variance showed significant

Assessment of the Impact of Soil Contamination with Cadmium and Mercury on Leaf Nitrogen Content and Miscanthus Yield Applying Proximal Spectroscopy

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
The research objective was to use proximal spectroscopy in visible and near infrared (VNIR) spectra to determine the total leaf nitrogen (TN) content and the above-ground biomass of Miscanthus × giganteus (MxG) grown in the open-roof greenhouse ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells
