Preparation and evaluation of attractive microspheres for control of Agrilus planipennis fairmaire

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2023
Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire is an important wood boring pest of Fraxinus species in the family Oleaceae. Oxacyclotridecan-2-one is an attractant of A. planipennis. Traps with attractive lures can be used in mass trapping of insect pests, but the traps are a bit expensive and they must be set up and dismantled in the field.

Agrilus planipennis (emerald ash borer).

2021
Abstract The emerald ash borer, A. planipennis is an East Asian wood-boring beetle that is presently causing dramatic damage to ash (Fraxinus spp.) in the USA and Canada. Since its discovery in 2002 in Michigan, the beetle has quickly spread to at least 15 US States and Canadian Provinces, mainly through the transport of infested firewood and ...

Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire in Moscow ash trees

Russian Journal of Biological Invasions, 2010
An invasive species of an aggressive plant pest, the emerald ash borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (=A. feretriue Obenberger, A. marcopoli Obenberger), was found and identified in Moscow ash trees for the first time in 2005. The widespread withering of Moscow ashes had been registering since 2004 and EAB was considered to be the main reason ...

Susceptibility of Agrilus planipennis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) to Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae

Journal of Economic Entomology, 2006
The susceptibility of Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) to selected strains of the entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin and Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin was evaluated through bioassays with direct immersion or foliar exposure under laboratory conditions. Results showed that A.

Interaction of Visual and Chemical CUES in Promoting Attraction of Agrilus planipennis

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2016
Female emerald ash borers, Agrilus planipennis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), emit a macrocyclic lactone, (Z)-3-dodecen-12-olide, that increases field trap captures on large-panel prism traps when co-emitted with the green leaf volatile (Z)-3-hexenol. We assessed attraction to these compounds by using visual decoy-baited branch traps, which attract males ...

Water Conservation Features of Ova ofAgrilus planipennis(Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

Environmental Entomology, 2013
The emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire, has destroyed millions of ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) in North America since first identified in Detroit in 2002. With species of ash distributed throughout North America, it is easy to speculate the extinction of all susceptible species of ash on the continent given a lack of physical, environmental,

Glutathione-S-transferase profiles in the emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2013
The emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire is a recently discovered invasive insect pest of ash, Fraxinus spp. in North America. Glutathione-S-transferases (GST) are a multifunctional superfamily of enzymes which function in conjugating toxic compounds to less toxic and excretable forms. In this study, we report the molecular characterization

A Biologically Active Analog of the Sex Pheromone of the Emerald Ash Borer, Agrilus planipennis

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2015
The emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) (EAB), is an invasive species causing unprecedented levels of mortality to ash trees in its introduced range. The female-produced sex pheromone of EAB has been shown to contain the macrocyclic lactone (3Z)-dodecen-12-olide.
