Sun Protection for Fruit: Dynamic Agrivoltaics Reduces Apple Temperature and Sunburn Damage

open access: yesAgriVoltaics Conference Proceedings
Heatwaves are a risk to fruit tree yield and production. In this study, a dynamic agrivoltaic system was tested as a solution to protect trees from high temperatures by shading the fruits when irradiance and air temperature peak at their maximum values.

The potential of agrivoltaic systems [PDF]

open access: yesRenewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2016
Abstract In order to meet global energy demands with clean renewable energy such as with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, large surface areas are needed because of the relatively diffuse nature of solar energy. Much of this demand can be matched with aggressive building integrated PV and rooftop PV, but the remainder can be met with land-based PV ...

Agrivoltaics Crop Yield Modeling

open access: yesAgriVoltaics Conference Proceedings
Agrivoltaics (APV) combine agriculture and photovoltaic (PV) energy production on the same land and have the potential to provide several synergies for both production systems. Moving towards large-scale commercial implementation, synergies and trade-offs need to be quantified. Various APV designs exist and have been studied in field experiments in the

Maximizing Energy Generation in Agrivoltaic Systems: A Study of Bifacial and Monofacial Modules With Consideration of Module Height and Albedo Impact

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the performance of bifacial and monofacial PV modules in agrivoltaic systems using PVsyst simulations. Real albedo measurements from a wheat field were incorporated to ensure realistic results. Bifacial modules demonstrated a 19.46% increase in energy yield compared to monofacial ones.

Design of a Hydroelectronic Solar‐Tracking System for Solar Panels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A prototype of a passive solar‐tracking system utilizing buoyant force based on water level was developed, and its MATLAB/Simulink model was implemented. This study is expected to encourage researchers to design solar‐tracking mechanisms using metals with different thermal expansion coefficients, air, oil, and other fluids. ABSTRACT This study presents

High‐Mobility and Low Carrier Concentration Transparent Conducting Oxide Rear Contact for Bifacial CIGS Solar Cells

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This study investigates high‐mobility, low carrier concentration (CC) transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) as back contacts in bifacial Cu (In, Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells. These TCOs enhance rear‐side light absorption in CIGS and external quantum efficiency, improving overall performance by offering high transparency, low reflectance, and maintaining ...
