Photocatalytic and Biotechnological Strategies for Remediation of Persistent Organic Pollutants: Mechanisms, Toxicity, and Antimicrobial Perspectives

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) pose significant ecological and human health risks due to their persistence, bioaccumulation, toxicity, and global distribution. Conventional remediation methods are often inadequate for achieving complete mineralization, demonstrating the need for advanced and substantial approaches.

Competitive carnivore guilds as natural buffers for sustainable tiger conservation

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
This study proposes that competitor‐rich carnivore guilds may act as natural buffers for tiger populations. Leopards, striped hyenas, and dholes may constrain tiger recruitment and peak density while supporting prey stability and reducing conflict. Therefore, tiger conservation should prioritize long‐term ecological resilience rather than maximizing ...

Screening of Brazilian Isolated Yeasts Reveals Multiple Potential Chassis for Industrial Biotechnology

open access: yesYeast, EarlyView.
Harnessing Brazilian microbial diversity, comprehensive phenotypic screening of 79 yeast isolates identified non‐conventional strains with superior multi‐stress tolerance and metabolic versatility compared to S. cerevisiae under industrially relevant conditions.

Financial Literacy Intervention and the Willingness to Pay for Digital Credits: A Scalable Video‐Based Approach in Kenya

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rapid growth in digital finance has expanded credit access for rural smallholders, yet financial capability has not kept pace with access. Where fee structures are opaque and search is costly, this gap raises the risk of expensive borrowing in digital financial services.

REPRODUCING OPERATIONAL LANDSCAPES: The Rock Mining for Indonesia's New Capital City

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Indonesia's new capital city is designed to become a green and sustainable city. In this article, we examine the (un)sustainability of the process through which the city is coming into being. Using the sociospatial theory of planetary urbanization, we trace the dialectical relationship between the new city and sites beyond it to show how ...

CONTESTED METABOLIC NODES: Shareholding Cooperatives and Planetary Ruralization in China

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract China's recent shareholding cooperative (SC) reform heralds a shift from expropriation‐led rural change to a post‐expropriation regime in which the countryside is reconstituted through circulation, capitalization, and new forms of collective governance. Existing interpretations, whether framed as market‐driven de‐collectivization, state‐led re‐

Characterization of the dynamic microbiome evolution across thrips species

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Comprehensive survey of the microbiome in thrips. The dominant bacterial genera found in thrips include intracellular ones, such as Wolbachia and Spiroplasma, and extracellular ones, including Serratia, Pantoea, and Acinetobacter. We isolated and sequenced high‐quality genomes of two dominant symbionts, Pantoea dispersa and Serratia marcescens.

Spatial Patterns of Avian Stable Isotopes Reveal Ecological Impacts of Climate and Land‐Use Change

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Increased feather δ15N values with pasture coverage reveal an elevated baseline δ15N in grazing landscapes, while broader isotopic niches in farmland habitats reflect agricultural expansion's significant influence on resource use patterns of the avian community.

Drivers of Host–Pathogen Community Assemblages in European Forests and Urban Green Spaces

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite advances in understanding infectious diseases, the persistence and re‐emergence of wildlife pathogens continue to raise public and veterinary health concerns. This study investigates the relationship between biodiversity and rodent‐borne diseases in Europe, focusing on habitat alterations and their impact on rodent diversity.
