The role of wild palms in agroforestry systems in the Neotropics: A review

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 6, Issue 6, Page 2200-2227, December 2024.

Comparing carbon offsets and livelihood benefits in a long‐term reforestation project: Agroforestry versus native timber versus enrichment planting

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 5, Issue 3, July–September 2024.
Looking at different reforestation methods over 14 years in an Emberá Indigenous community in Panama we found that plots with native timber mixtures and monocultures stored three times more carbon than those with agroforestry or natural regrowth. Natural regrowth was less valued by participants due to the abundance of pioneer species, but it helped ...

Regional differences of functional and taxonomic bird diversity in tropical agroforests of Peru

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2024.
We studied changes in the functional and taxonomic dissimilarity of bird communities in cacao agroforests and adjacent forests in two landscapes dominated by different forest types (dry tropical forest and subtropical rainforest). We found that the functional traits that are most vulnerable to disappear in agroforests at increasing distance from forest
