Top and Root Development of Crested Wheatgrass (Agropyron Cristatum) and Intermediate Wheatgrass (A. Intermedium) During The First Season

2023
Grassland research has undergone a definite acceleration since the great drought of 1933-40 (Albertson, 1949). The importance of grass in the conservation of our nation's agricultural resources has been brought clearly before research workers as well as the nation's population.

Comparative analysis of Agropyron intermedium (Host) Beauv 6Agi and 6Agi2 chromosomes in bread wheat cultivars and lines with wheat–wheatgrass substitutions

Russian Journal of Genetics, 2017
A comparative study of wheat–wheatgrass substituted cultivars and lines resistant to leaf rust developed by the Agricultural Research Institute for Southeast Regions (Multi 6R, Belyanka, Favorit, Voevoda, Lebedushka) and Samara Agricultural Research Institute (Tulaikovskaya 5, Tulaikovskaya 10, Tulaikovskaya 100, Tulaikovskaya Zolotistaya) breeding was

Selection for Female Fertility and Seed Size in Male Sterile Intermediate Wheatgrass, Agropyron Intermedium (Host) Beauv.1

Crop Science, 1971
We selected for female fertility and seed size in strains of substitution backcrosses to the amphidiploids (AD) Triticum durum Desf. ✕ Agropyron intermedium (Host) Beauv. and T. durum ✕ A. trichopharum (Link) Richt. Among 77 second substitution backcross strains (SB2), 18 had high pollen sterility (81.5 to 100%) with some degree of female fertility ...

[The genetic behavior of an Agropyron intermedium chromosome conferring BYDV resistance in wheat background].

Yi chuan xue bao = Acta genetica Sinica, 2000
Based on the chromosome origin identification of an Agropyron intermedium chromosome with BYDV resistance in Yi4212, a BYDV-resistant substitution line derived from the hybrids between 77-5433 and Zhong5, its ability compensating the lost wheat chromosomes and its transmission rate were investigated.

Temperature Sensitivity and Efficacy of Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus Resistance Derived fromAgropyron intermedium

Plant Disease, 1995
Agronomically promising wheat (Triticum aestivum) lines are now available that have the short arm of chromosome 4Ai-2 from Agropyron intermedium translocated onto the long arm of wheat chromosome 4D. This translocation confers a high level of resistance to wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV).

Intergeneric hybrids between × Triticosecale cv. Welsh (2n = 42) and three genotypes of Agropyron intermedium (2n = 42)

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1986
Three genotypes of Agropyron intermedium ssp. trichophorum (2n = 42) were crossed onto × Triticosecale cv. Welsh (2n = 42). Bivalent frequencies per pollen mother cell in the three hybrid combinations were 4.97, 5.64, and 6.94. Pairing was attributed to autosyndesis between two genomes (N and N1) of the paternal parent rather than to genome homology ...

Influence of Cultural Treatments on Seed Production of Intermediate Wheatgrass (Agropyron intermedium (Host) Beauv.)1

Agronomy Journal, 1965
SynopsisBurning of the straw and stubble after harvest was beneficial in maintaining high seed yields of intermediate wheatgrass. Mechanical removal of every other foot of vegetation in the row produced seed yields equal to burning. The effects of burning and mechanical thinning appeared to be additive. Increasing the rate of nitrogen was not effective

A Possible Source of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility in Intermediate Wheat‐Grass, Agropyron Intermedium (Host) Beauv.1

Crop Science, 1970
Amphidiploid Triticum durum Desf. × Agropyron intermedium (Host) Beauv. and T. durum × A. trichophorum (Link) Richt. hybrids were backcrossed twice to A. intermedium and A. trichophorum. A pronounced increase in male sterility was observed in the series from the amphidiploid (AD) to the first and second substitution backcross generations (SB1 and SB2).

Morphology, Cytology, and Fertility of Agropyron podperae and its Hybrids with A. intermedium1

Crop Science, 1978
Seventy‐three collections of wheatgrass (Agropyron podperae Nabel.) from two sites in Iran were grown at Logan, Utah to determine the morphological, cytological, and reproductive characteristics of this rarely collected taxon. The A. podperae collections were morphologically similar to those of A. intermedium (Host) Beauv., except that A.
