Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1582-1605, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

Caracterización de las aguas residuales y la demanda bioquímica de oxígeno

open access: yesIndustrial Data, 2014
El agua es la sustancia más importante para los seres vivos, después del oxígeno. Es parte constituyente de la mayoría de los animales y los vegetales y está presente en cantidad de minerales (Raffo Lecca, Tratado del Agua y la Legislación Peruana, 2013).

Evaluating the sustainability of mineral water consumption using multi‐scale hydrogeophysics in Caxambu, Brazil

open access: yesNear Surface Geophysics, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 234-251, June 2026.
Abstract A better understanding of the near‐surface aquifer system of the Caxambu Water Park, located in the Minas Gerais State, Brazil, has been achieved. The study aimed to identify groundwater reservoirs and flow patterns and contribute to the hydrogeological conceptual model using a multi‐scale geophysical approach.

Exiled From Their Own Lands: Indigenist Policies, Oil, and Colonial Plunder in 20th Century Venezuela

open access: yesThe Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, Volume 31, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines the historical displacement of Indigenous peoples in Venezuela, focusing on the links between indigenist policies and the exploitation of natural resources, particularly oil, throughout the 20th century. Using a combined historical and ethnographic approach, it demonstrates how the formation of the Venezuelan nation‐state

Stylosanthes cv. Campo Grande response to Bradyrhizobium inoculation in an Amazon Cerrado Oxisol

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Species of the genus Stylosanthes show great potential for use in mixed pastures and as green manure due to their symbiotic potential in symbiosis with diazotrophic bacteria, particularly Bradyrhizobium. These herbaceous legumes can improve pasture quality and contribute to sustainability.

Fault‐Mediated Groundwater‐Surface Water Mixing Amplifies Hydrochemical/Hydrological Dynamics in a Semi‐Arid Volcanic Lake Basin

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
Isotopes data help to understand the GW‐SW connectivity, the recharge elevations, and evaporation in a volcanic lake basin. ABSTRACT Understanding groundwater (GW) to surface water (SW) connectivity (i.e., the exchange of water and solutes between aquifers and surface bodies) is increasingly important under changing climate conditions, where ...

Modeling of water infiltration in hydrophobic‐over‐wettable two‐layer columns

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract This paper presents a new piecewise model for simulating one‐dimensional infiltration curves in two‐layer finite columns consisting of a hydrophobic layer overlaying wettable soil. The model combines a physics‐based equation for infiltration in water‐repellent substrates with an analytical framework for ponded conditions.
