New approach to hole-expansion ratio in complex phase and martensitic steels: Understanding the role of punching damage

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Although advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) demonstrates excellent uniaxial tensile formability, its application in automotive parts is limited due to inferior flange formability.

Effect of Double Annealing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Medium Manganese Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A double intercritical annealing strategy is proposed to tailor the multiphase microstructure and mechanical response of a medium‐Mn steel. The treatment produces an ultrafine mixture of ferrite, martensite and multiple austenite populations with graded thermal and mechanical stability, formed through austenite reversion and controlled retransformation.

Progress on Research and Development of 3rd Generation of Advanced High-Strength Steel for Car

open access: yesTeshugang, 2013
In recent decades, advanced high strength steel (AHSS) for car is focal point of research and development work for materials. Strength -elongation product of 1st generation AHSS steel with ferrite matrix is 15 GPa • % , and the strength -elongation ...

Insights Into Paint‐Bake Toughening of Resistance Spot Welds of a 2.0 GPa Warm‐Stamped Medium‐Mn Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Paint baking of resistance spot welded joints of 2.0 GPa warm‐stamped medium‐Mn steel activates low‐temperature tempering, forming fine cementite in the fusion zone and enhancing toughness. Crack propagation resistance increases, shifting the failure mode from partial interfacial to complete pullout, with peak load and energy absorption rising ...

Crash Behavior of DP800–DP1000 Advanced High‐Strength Steel’s Dissimilar Resistance Spot Welded Joints Under Quasi‐static and High Strain Rates

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The high‐strain‐rate behavior of resistance spot‐welded DP800–DP1000 joints is investigated. Results show that microstructural gradients across BM–HAZ–FZ govern hardness, strain rate sensitivity, and failure modes. While strength increases with strain rate, energy absorption is controlled by ductility, with DP800–DP800 joints showing superior ...

Heat Treatment of Closed-Die Forgings of Low-Alloy AHSS Steels

open access: yes, 2018
New methods are sought today for improving the mechanical properties of heavy-duty parts of high-strength steels, particularly in the automotive industry. AHS steels tend to be associated with high strength and hardness, which are achieved at the cost of poor ductility.

Using the particle finite element method for predicting edge-cracking in complex phase high-strength steel sheets [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Advanced High-strength steel (AHSS) sheets enable lightweight designs by reducing material thickness while retaining necessary structural properties. However, their high strength often complicates forming operations and increases vulnerability to defects

A novel method for the spring-back analysis of a hot stamping steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
Spring-back of sheet metal affects the dimensional accuracy of the components after stamping and has to be eliminated or corrected. Advanced high strength steels (AHSS) are prone to spring-back while forming at ambient temperatures.

Wide‐Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet Hand Surgery in Australia: An Analysis of Adoption, Perceptions and Implementation in a Global Context

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wide‐awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) is increasingly used globally for hand surgery, offering clinical and operational benefits. However, its adoption in Australia remains understudied. This study assessed current WALANT usage among Australian hand surgeons to identify key factors influencing its implementation ...
